Why am I the only one that seems to think it's strange that the grips are backwards? They turn in towards the palms, not away from them. That looks uncomfortable to me.

It looks....I don't know, weird design. X button is least of my worries, more the fact that the 4 buttons are spread around the middle of the controller.

You're big old fat palms do all the gripping and leave your thumbs to reach further across the pad to the touch screen and buttons

I think that design does look to give your thumbs more maneuverability

I'd just say it just looks very different from current controllers. I think it's far less ridiculous than the WiiU putting a screen on the main controller.

Generally Valve knows how to make stuff. If they put it out, they have tested it and find it better. They aren't just trying to make a console controller, they are trying to make a mouse & keyboard substiture for people who've been married to that scheme for close to 2 decades.

@youngfrey: Valve knows how to make software and knives. Their hardware design skills need to be judged seoarately since this is their first attempt.

If you go to a site that is primarily PC users (Rock Paper Shotgun) then the majority of comments are positive, praising the design and understanding how important this is to the platform. Go to a console-oriented site (Destructoid, Giant Bomb to some extent, etc.) and you'll find that everyone is shitting all over it like Valve personally insulted them.

I find it both hilarious and disturbing that opinions on this thing are so polarized. And maybe it shows how much of a shake up that is needed in the gaming industry. It's honestly not that extreme, but people are acting like it is.

To me it seems like the Steam controller will be uncomfortable to use. I just don't like the whole layout of the buttons, and how wide the pads are placed. I know Value is trying to do something different, but I'm skeptical that people will welcome it. Then again I'm pre-judging, for all I know the controller might work well.
