#1 Edited by Tfruit (1680 posts) - 2 months, 15 days ago

Freebird games announced on their facebook page that they are making to the moon 2 !

I loved the first game and i hope this one will be just as fantastic as the first one.

They said this in the announcement(does not say much but there it is)

HAY GUYZ, TO THE MOON 2 IS BEING ANNOUNCED!!

(The url on there won't be up until tomorrow. :p Also, don't hate me. Might also be submitting this to Reddit tomorrow; could use some help spreading the word when that

happens!)

Here is a link to their page

Even though i am really thrilled about this i hope they find a better name for it :P

EDIT:

Apperently something called A Bird story is also coming out from them, there is a trailer below (only shows the main menu and the music though so don't worry about spoilers)

While Dr. Watts and Dr. Rosalene aren’t in this game (chronologically, it takes place before their time), the boy in it eventually grows up to become their patient in “episode 2″ of the series.

Cant post a video for some reason but here is the trailer

Awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by the first game. I'll be interested in another.

If I had tear ducts, they would be ready.

Man, To The Moon was such a great, bittersweet work. I'm glad they're going to make more.

Didn't we already know there was going to be a sequel?

Either way, my tears are ready.

Not sure if this is related, but there's also this game called Bird Story coming out by the same people (freebird games) and it looks like it'll be a similar ride and best of all, it's free! It's set for a mid-2013 release.

Man they're really going to pummel us with the feels this year.

That's fantastic. I loved the first one. I've got my fingers crossed that part of the announcement doesn't involve being on Kickstarter.

Awesome! Been looking forward to it.

Good to hear! Loved the first game, I hope with a sequel they make the gameplay not complete trash.

This is great news! To The Moon was pretty great. Can't wait for this new one.

I'm very pleased with this news. You wouldn't know it if you were to look at me right now because of all the tears, but that's only because I just played To The Moon a couple weekends back and I still haven't stopped crying.

So glad to see that Freebird are going ahead with the story. I actually know Kan (the creator) and I know he was wondering whether he should keep going. Sales of the first game weren't amazing, so last time I spoke to him, he was going to have to develop part-time while working. He was hoping To The Moon would have given him enough money to focus on his next project.

Hopefully the sales of this will spur on sales of the first game and give him some more resources. I love his style and the story is really great!

Yeah, I'll pass; the original was a huge chore to get through. I appreciate what they were attempting to do; but I also appreciate that Big Rigs was an attempt to make a truck racing game. Anyway, it doesn't looks like the graphics are any better (I assume it's still an ugly mish-mash of presumably royalty free graphics and what-looks-like edits of RPG maker sprites). Also, the humour/pop-culture references of the original were almost unbearable; and then there were those awful action sequences...

I've read a lot of good things about "To the moon", it's unfortunate that I missed the indie bundle it was in and never got the chance to get it cheap. Hopefully the sequel will be as good if not better, I'll surely get them both at some point.

Don't play it around any sharp objects. That game is a downer. Fantastic, but just damn sad at parts.

I bought the first one during the Steam holiday sale and have yet to play it. Maybe i should do that, you know play games i buy.

#21 Edited by hellerphant (31 posts) - 2 months, 14 days ago

@Pr1mus that's probably a good idea. I've got so many games in my Steam library that I just haven't played.

@Pikawai wait until you have a clear schedule and just sit down and play it in one sitting. It's not that long (2-4 hours from memory) but playing in one session is a complete emotional roller coaster. So damn good!

I only played half of the first one, and then never got back to it for some reason. I really should go back and play through all of it, shouldnt I?

#23 Posted by PlayerUno (8 posts) - 2 months, 14 days ago

I've only just begun playing the first one, I hear it's a real tear jerker, so I'm looking forward to where it takes me.

#24 Posted by RPGee (691 posts) - 2 months, 14 days ago

That first one is pretty good! I look forward to more.

Also, there's a bridging little thing, called 'A Bird Story' that will be coming somewhat soon from Kan. It's apparently only half an hour long, but it may be alright, given the track record.

Yes. Go back right now!

I picked up the original game on sale for like $4 and really enjoyed the story, but the $12 they were asking for the game on release seemed like a lot to me. Sure the plot was great, but the writing seemed juvenile at some points and the part where you played it wasn't great. While I would like to see another tale, I believe they will ask too much for it upfront.

#28 Posted by hellerphant (31 posts) - 2 months, 9 days ago

@tearhead: I can definitely agree that some of the writing was a little short, but the overall feeling I took away from the game was well worth the price of admission in my mind. Just talking about it makes me want to go back and play through again.

#29 Posted by Dagbiker (6363 posts) - 2 months, 9 days ago

Correct me if Im wrong, because I have not played it...

But isnt the power of the story kinda reduced by the fact that they are continuing it?

I have not followed this, and have no interest in it, but I know the reason why Full Metal Alchemist made me cry, and to this day makes me tear up is because of the ending. The fact that it ended, piled with how it ended, was part of the reason why it was sad. But making a sequel just reduces that emotion.
