Why has there been so many ports of old games to the 3DS such as Donkey Kong country returns 3D ,SMT Devil Summoners:Soul Hackers ,Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64 ect. Is Nintendo just out of ideas and are leaning to much on nostalgia

Well, the Shin Megami Tensei games aren't Nintendo games. Also, the 3DS is Soul Hackers' first release in English, so I don't think that counts as a port.

I think that Ocarina of Time 3D and Star Fox 64 3D were both used to exemplify the 3DS' specific features: 3D and gyrometer, respectively.

It sounds like you're operating on confirmation bias. There are counter-examples for each game you listed. The 3DS is a solid library that hopefully will only improve.

Plus 2/3 of my 3DS games aren't ports (3/4 if we're counting Liberation Maiden).

There are a few ports here and there but that hardly makes up the majority of the 3DS's library.

I don't get you point, the 3DS has been on fire lately with new titles so a few ports is easy money for publishers. For Nintendo they have promised many of these older games to be on the 3DS library and are taking their time in releasing them. So can't say they are leaning too much on nostalgia on the 3DS when their library is pretty rock solid now and even for the next few months with great titles lined up.

It's the Vita that has a lot of ports. (even though many are rather damn good)

Yeah, cause you never see "HD-Versions" of older games on Xbox, PS3 or PC, right?

At least he most highly anticipated game for 3DS isn't a port of an old game (Persona 4). Don't get me wrong, Vita is nice, but the only things I have played on there are Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Persona 4, and MGS HD collection. And one of the most anticipated games coming to vita? FFX HD.

4 ports in 2 years

omg, I'm drowning in ports

honestly, I would have no problems if they wanted to port their entire n64 library to the 3ds

It's scientifically proven that old things are better than new things so I don't see the problem.

@christopherson329: Why not try one of the non port games then? There are a fair few solid originals for the thing already, and more on the way.
