1. Everquest
2. Zelda: OOT
3. Starcraft
4. Counterstrike
5. Diablo II

Top 5 Best Games Ever Made
Strong list, hard to argue although I have never played Starcraft. People do not understand that the original Everquest changed gaming forever, WoW would not exist w/o EQ and 90% of the good things in WoW are just EQ ideas that Blizzard polished better. SOE was never great at polish. Blizzard are brilliant at taking an idea, and making it bigger, faster, more fun. But the inspiration for it all was in EQ and quite frankly a lot of the WoW design also seems inpsired from the commercial flop EQOA on the PS2. Again EQOA had a ton of great MMO ideas, it just lacked graphics, polish and proper testing.
1. Everquest 1
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Baldur's Gate II SOA/TOB
4. Counterstrike
5. Deus Ex 1
screw this, I'm doing game series in no order
- Final Fantasy
- Halo
- 2d Mario
- Tekken (we remember how badass this was?)
- jees, I feel so threatened by only having one more choice.
GameRankings.com says that this is the one and only list of the Top 5 Games Ever Made/of All Time (I'm not sure how to search this on Metacritic, but the results "should" be the same):
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - N64 - 97.613%
- Grand Theft Auto IV - PS3 - 97.363%
- Super Mario Galaxy - Wii - 97.262%
- Grand Theft Auto IV - X360 - 96.556%
- Metroid Prime - GC - 96.326%

1. Everquest 1
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Baldur's Gate II SOA/TOB
4. Counterstrike
5. Deus Ex 1"
Still need to beat Deus Ex 1 but it's already my absolute favorite RPG. I PRAY this list doesn't take me all day to do again:
1. METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS!
2. Devil May Cry 1/3/4
3. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (World's GREATEST Platformer!!)
4. Contra Hard Corps (Greatest Shoot Em Up Of All Time!)
5. Goldeneye (Best FPS Ever Made)
Here's mine. I don't factor in multiplayer because for the most part I hate multiplayer.
1. Call of Duty 4
2. Deus Ex
3. Knights of the Old Republic
4. Half-Life 2
5. Fallout 2
(List is subject to change really super dramatically. Ask me again in a week, and you'll get a different list.)
heres my all time favorites
1.fallout 3
2.call of duty 4
3.banjo kazooie nuts and bolts
4.gears of war
5.left for dead
Mine would be:
- Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
- Wave Race: Blue Storm
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Resident Evil 4
- Crash Team Racing
for me
1.GTA SA, I invested the most time into this game out of any other, I loved the world and the comedic story gets me every time
2. Street Fighter 2, nuff said
3. Chrono Trigger, other than the pokemons I really dislike most RPG's, this game was managable which is the way I like my RPG's.
4. Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, I love to build shit and this is the ultimate waste time game.
5.COD4, brought the MMO aspect to FPS, what more to ask for?
EDIT: why do people put old games up so much?
I mean I really feel there is a curve happening in game design and it is going up gradually, the overall quality of most games are exceding the input people put into them. I remember playing NES baseball thinking how could they make this any better or content with my 100 megabytes of harddrive space to play games on my PC.
Games now are awesome, we need more new games on these lists.
"Guess what, you don't pick the first game in a series or genre just because it was the start of something new. Everquest was always fucking terrible, its fans just didn't know any better ten years ago."I won't go so far to say that Everquest was terrible, it definitely had and still has some serious problems. Mainly the fact that a level one character could be buffed with a high level spell effectively breaking the whole idea of being a low level character killing enemies you shouldn't be able to kill. Maybe that's been fixed since 2004 but I haven't played it since.
""
- Big Rigs
- Pac-man 2600
- E.T.
- Shaq-Fu
- Superman 64
You forgot The Adventures of Tom Sawyer on the NES.
My list:
1. Descent: Freespace - The Great War
2. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
3. Jet Force Gemini
4. Halo: Combat Evolved
5. Battlezone II: Combat Commander
And thats just some of my favorite games of all time. However, Freespace - The Great War will always number 1 in any of my favorite games of all time list.
1. Super Mario Brothers 3
I made a mistake so I'm redoing my list.
1. METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS
2. Devil May Cry 1/3/4
3. Sonic The Hedgehog 2
4. MAX PAYNE (Greatest TPS of All Time)
5. Contra Hard Corps
COD4, brought the MMO aspect to FPS, what more to ask for?No it didn't. First of all, having unlocks doesn't make it a significant MMO aspect because MMO's are persistent and nothing about CoD is persistent, the unlocks are just unlocks, something to keep you playing. Secondly, it had been done before.
1. METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!

to thabigred:
we put up old games just to piss you new gamers off like games we played before you were even born, no just kidding, but it is because we were playing games about ten years before most GiantBombers were born
"1. Planescape: TormentI've been meaning to play Planescape, Arcanum, and a number of other old PC RPGs (Sanitarium, Baldur's Gate I & II, etc). Hopefully more of those games will show up on GoG.com sometime soon; I feel kind of deprived without them.
2. Arcanum
3. Fallout
4. Mass Effect
5. Fallout II"
Not in any particular order, and from the perspective of games I feel are superbly designed and hardly ever took a misstep:
- Dragon Quest VIII
- Burnout Paradise
- Half-Life (series)
- Portal
- Okami
