because it WAS the go to RTS for the longest time. And had a lot of memorable moments like... the Terran Soldiers saying "You want a piece of me boy?!?"
I don't really care about the rest, but Advance Wars: Dual Strike has to be on there. Its probably the most perfected and all-around fun-while-challenging strategy game I have ever played. And yes, I have played StarCraft.
God, I wish I could play Dual Strike for the first time again.

It depends, what form of strategy are we talking about? Because RTS and TBS are very different facets of the same genre. In any case, the winner is Heroes of Might and Magic III.

Starcraft was great back in the past, but the formula is just old and expired by today's standards. Thing is people still think it's good because they can't get over the past!
