Don't do it, Valve. Nothing positive can come of this for you. Capcom is just using you. She'll hurt you like she hurts everyone else.

Not interested. Now a Valve Vs. Capcom game...

#6 Posted by Nightriff (5257 posts) -

Sounds interesting? I guess

#7 Edited by MentalDisruption (1665 posts) -

Wait, so when I play Left 4 Dead 2 I'm going to be getting Resident Evil enemies showing up after this hits?

#8 Posted by Live2bRighteous (317 posts) -

This is actually pretty damn awesome. The best part is that it's all free!

I'm glad I have the PC version pre ordered... I had it on my PS3 before and had tons of fun co-oping with friends locally. On the PC though, I have a lot more dudes to play with online.

I CALL NICK!

You guys are about sixteen days early on this one.

#10 Posted by AlexanderSheen (5077 posts) -

Why?

#11 Edited by Live2bRighteous (317 posts) -

@alexandersheen: Commenting on the crossover project, Chet Faliszek from Valve stated: "We're huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it."

#12 Posted by Morbid_Coffee (955 posts) -

I guess this is cool but will the mod that lets me replace Ellis with a Raptor work in RE6?

#13 Posted by project343 (2837 posts) -

I had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't April Fools.

#14 Edited by believer258 (12105 posts) -

Bullshit. That's the only thing I can say, because I'm having an honestly hard time believing this.

My reaction as well.

#16 Posted by TheHT (11686 posts) -

That's cool. I've been playing a lot more L4D2 lately.

Makes me think about the other crossovers like the Payday The Heist crossover and the cancelled Cabin in the Woods crossover. Super wierd.

#17 Edited by JasonR86 (9763 posts) -

No way. This can't be real. This'll be debunked. I can't believe that Valve would do that.

#18 Posted by casper_ (908 posts) -

nah i'm good

#19 Posted by leebmx (2247 posts) -

I had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't April Fools.

My exact reaction.....Although I think if RE6 hadn't been so awful people might be a little less dubious of something like this.....I suppose the reaction most people have when a new Valve project comes along is 'why are the doing this when they could be working on HL3'

#20 Edited by MistaSparkle (2148 posts) -

RE enemies in L4D sounds great.

#21 Edited by Blu3V3nom07 (4297 posts) -

Um. I just see going as POS anyway. If it was RE in L4D2, then yea it'd be cool. But, Its NOT.

So.. I mean. No super-cool melee weapons from L4D, so.. I just say: Nah, dawg. Just no. : /

#22 Edited by cmblasko (1322 posts) -

Cool to see Capcom reaching out to western devs to collaborate on stuff like this. I hope other studios take notice and follow suit.

YOU SAID THERE WOULD BE HATS

@theht: Oh hey!, didn't read that. Almost alright.

#26 Posted by AlecOfTheWest (290 posts) -

@theht: At least the Payday crossover made sense; beyond the zombies, there really isn't much of a similarity between L4D and RE. Valve actually makes quality games for starters, lol.

#27 Edited by MedalOfMode (294 posts) -

Gears of Left for Resident Evil

#28 Edited by cbarnes86 (559 posts) -

Maybe Valve can fix Resident Evil... not that I thought RE6 was that bad, but still, I think RE needs a re-imagining much like 4 reinvented the series. Maybe every 3 games will be completely different...

#29 Posted by Sooty (8082 posts) -

Capcom did a nice job putting the L4D2 characters in RE6, they look good.

Or Valve, whatever.

I won't touch the RE6 content because that series blows, but I'll hop on L4D2 to check it out.

#30 Posted by FunkasaurasRex (847 posts) -

This technically makes sense I guess, but it seems super weird that Valve would want to associate themselves with a game as widely reviled as RE6.

#31 Posted by Donkeycow (556 posts) -

Uhm what? I don't really see what Valve is getting out of this, connecting their generally well received game with one that is widely reviled. Has no effect on me though, i'm not much a fan of either franchise.

#32 Edited by EXTomar (4922 posts) -

My personal feeling is that Valve kind of broke Left 4 Dead 2 where there is something different about the dynamics that makes it impossible to clear the game even on the easiest setting. We used to do a Thanksgiving/Christmas game with family doing L4D because is an easy enough game for *anyone* to figure out and succeed. We'd set it to the lowest difficulty and outside of the crescendo events it would be difficult to wipe out which definitely made the casual players feel good. The first holiday we tried L4D2 no game actually made it to the end let alone get through the crescendo.

There is something very approachable about L4D that is something that Biohazard/Resident Evil can't even do. What I do hope happens is that this "engine" constrains the Capcom/RE side from going crazy with irrelevant story and action elements. Keep the story simple ("My team is in this horrible situation. We got to get over there.") but let Capcom focus on zombie design.

I think "widely reviled" is a bit hyperbole. I know plenty of people who love RE6. If you're going to go by critical reception sure... but I don't think that hardly speaks for everyone.

#34 Posted by Yummylee (22297 posts) -

Something as weird as this to be announced on the same day as Saints Row IV?.. There must be a connection!

#35 Posted by Dagbiker (6978 posts) -

Rio hat incoming, also probably a Cami butt implant for the Pyro.

Also new TimeSplitters, new Neverhood successor, new Civ V expansion. Am I missing anything?

Well i didn't say "universally reviled". Every critics response I've read has been negative, and two of my mates got the game and both disliked it as well (they were fans of the series till this point). True there are some who enjoy it, but some people also stand by the War Z, doesn't change the fact the general opinion of the product is low.

#39 Posted by ArbitraryWater (12006 posts) -

Huh... ok....? If I was ever going to play L4D2 again or buy the PC version of RE6, I'd... probably be excited by this completely unnecessary crossover?

#40 Posted by Soapy86 (2638 posts) -

"Capcom" and "most respected" simply do not belong in the same sentence.

#42 Edited by MooseyMcMan (11456 posts) -

As someone who just beat Resident Evil 6 today, I can say that... uh... Yeah.

Leon has a slick jacket.

How weird, next thing you'll be buying is Leon's jacket to wear in Team Fortress 2.

what

#45 Edited by tourgen (4542 posts) -

hey, good for them. At least they are trying to kick RE back into something fun. Capcom and Valve can both make great games. I'm looking forward to playing whatever comes out of this.

#46 Edited by MocBucket62 (1262 posts) -

This is strange. I guess this will help the sales of RE6 for the PC, but how much effort is Valve gonna put in this collaborative development to make this worthwhile?

#47 Posted by Dalai (7057 posts) -

Next week, the announcement of Aliens: Colonial Marines x Ricochet! You heard it here first.

#48 Edited by Vextroid (1427 posts) -

Was kinda hoping I could play as Leon in L4D2 but this is just as cool.

Teach us your ways. Please. I need to know how someone enjoyed that sack of shit.

As for this news, I....I just....what the fuck is this?
