I bought it at launch, but jumped and gifted it to a few people for $25. Well worth it.
Weekend Deal Confirmed! Left 4 Dead $25 on Steam!
This is pretty much what I've been waiting for.
However, I just remembered that the demo ran like crap on my laptop, and my main PC doesn't support all this fancy shading and HDR stuff that Valve's recent games have been doing.
Does the game do a video card check? I can get Day of Defeat: Source to run on my system (with crazy graphical glitchiness) because it doesn't actually care if my video card is compatible. Is this one the same way?
Y'know what? I'll go ahead and buy it. I really should get around to buying a new video card anyway.
"Hmm.They've updated a lot of the dynamic lighting effects and other fancy terms I don't understand, but you can dial almost all of that back and it still looks okay.
I'm hoping it runs on my laptop too...I assume it will, as Episode 2 runs okay at mid to high settings and a lower resolution and Left 4 Dead is the same engine. Unless they've gone crazy with effects or something."
