Okay so yesterday I got Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for my PS3 and started the story mode. Did the first mission and about halfway into the second one I hear a large noise. At first I think it's coming from another room or something but then I realize my PS3's fan started spinning faster and louder.

My first instinct was to turn off my PS3 and turn it back on. I did so and started that mission again. Got a little farther but same thing happens again. My fan starts to spin faster and louder. So I turn it off and started playing again today.

Got into I think the third or fourth mission and the same thing happens again. This time I turn it off and do the thing where you hold the eject button and turn it on from the back. The fan finished spinning and I go back to playing Bad Company but this time I start playing the multiplayer.

I actually played maybe 2+ hours of multiplayer until once again the fan starts acting up. So, my question is.....WTF is happening?

Is it really hot in your room or where ever you have your ps3? A buddy of mines ps3 did that and he moved it to where it could get more air and I think it stopped.

Sounds like mine. It revs up once and a wile then just calms down.

@crono11: It's not hot in this room but the PS3's fan just blows into the wall which is about 3 or 4 inches away.

Since the newer games came out. It tends to happen when the action picks up.

@Sincillian:
Wondering since my old 60GB used to really go turbo with its fan before it's YLOD came. =(.

If your ps3 begins to randomly reset itself, then it'll be assured. Otherwise it hopefully may just need abit of break, for maybe a day or two.

3 or 4 inches isn't TOO much space (though it should be enough, I'd figure)

Why don't you just try moving it to an entirely different room with plenty of ventilation and see if it still happens?

@Abyssfull: I hope so. I'll be pissed if my PS3 gets a YLOD. I'll go back up my game saves just in case.

I'll try that.
