The live stream tomorrow is not going to be archived. I'm going to be at work while it's going on. Ok if it's going to be on twitch I take back my butthurtness.

#2 Posted by FluxWaveZ (17873 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

Wonder why it wouldn't be archived.

#3 Posted by EuanDewar (4024 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

it'll be archived on Twitch

#4 Posted by SerHulse (647 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

@FluxWaveZ: Drew and Vinny are busy so can't run the Livestream

@JZ: It will be on their Twitch account, Twitch auto-archives. It's just going to be lower quality.

#5 Posted by Animasta (12768 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

the archive will be too hot for TV

#6 Posted by TrafalgarLaw (335 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

There is a live-stream? About...?

#7 Posted by zombie2011 (4665 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

After all these TNT's and livestreams these guys have done, people still don't know that Twitch archives videos automatically.

#8 Posted by Legion_ (671 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

Why is there a livestream? And is it premium only?

@FluxWaveZ said:

Because Vinny & Drew are far too busy.

And yeah, Twitch does archive everything, just a lower quality than the ones that go up direct to the site. And as far as I can tell they haven't said what the stream will be about, just that it's the final live stream of 2012, & will begin in just under 21 hours. Presumably it will feature Jeff & Ryan & Alex.

It's the unarchived stream that Jeff mention on his latest Jar Time.

If it's premium only, then I don't think we'll be able to watch the auto-archive. Doesn't it require a login that we don't have?

#15 Posted by RecSpec (3060 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

I'm excited for it. Last year's I went from "I'll watch this for a bit" to staying for the whole damn thing. Loved it.

Twitch does not require a login if that's what you're asking.

#17 Posted by isbecome (72 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

@CatsAkimbo: The Coming Soon ticker doesn't say premium on it so it's probably open to all.

Twitch archives in 720p, too.
#19 Posted by Wilshere (115 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

Why would you want an archive? Everything will end.

#20 Posted by Jonny_Anonymous (452 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

I cant watch things on Twitch

Twitch does not require a login if that's what you're asking.

They can, and do, set a password to access the twitch channel they live stream premium content from - or everyone could watch it.

However, it says nothing about it being premium only so - assuming nobody goes out of their way to disable archives, which would be uncharacteristically dick-ish - it should auto-archive on the main twitch account.

#22 Posted by triple07 (1056 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

Yeah its a bummer cuz we'll all be dead by then.

Ba-Zing!

No, because it's a Premium event they password protect the channel (it's not the main GiantBomb twitch channel) and it would defeat the point if anyone could just go watch the archives without paying... So we have no access to archives.

Which I just remembered sucks for me, because I'm back home now with my shitty internet and the stupid premium twitch channel only ever has one sodding quality setting and it's too high for me to be able to watch.

Argh fuck.

Edit: hopefully it isn't premium then!

#25 Posted by ThePickle (3533 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

If it's a member's only stream the archive won't be accessible to anyone because that account is passworded.

I bet it's equal parts them not wanting to bother with recording and compressing it to archive and as a joke since "The End of the World" is tomorrow.

Vinny and Drew are probably incredibly busy with the GOTY stuff.

#34 Posted by 400lb_Gorilla (15 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

I've said it before, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for them not to archive every piece of content they do for the site. Saying, twitch will handle it is not acceptable, because what if Twitch goes crazy and disables archives? Especially if you are a subscriber, you should be able to access all of their content on the site itself. I'm fine with it taking a few extra days (or weeks because of the break) but it needs to be done regardless.

#35 Edited by LTSmash (404 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

I'm glad they at least let us know up-front.

#36 Posted by RVonE (4037 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

@MattyFTM: Isn't the point of a meme that one can't be produced by a conscious effort? Also, it was more an instance of me externalizing my displeasure with the sparse amount of video content over the course of this year instead of an attempt at being funny. Bad form on my part; it's just one of those days.

yeah, I'm usually at work when they do live streams so I count on the archives for my fix.

#49 Posted by Little_Socrates (5439 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

@400lb_Gorilla: It sounds like Vinny and Drew won't be working the stream, and the other three probably don't know how to properly archive or work the stream. Lo siento if it makes you angry, but they've archived all but, like, two pieces of content (Funky Barn and this,) so I don't see why you'd be that upset.

#50 Posted by VisariLoyalist (2988 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

this is the first I have heard about a stream
