@nintendoeats: Weren't in clans. I don't have much experience with Counterstrike since I haven't played it in years but from what I remember teamwork was pretty crucial.
I'm confused. It's 2010. We have started a new decade, so technically, your question would only incorporate firstperson shooters from 2010, unless you said, "favorite firstperson shooters of the last decade."
Oh maaaan, there are so many. There are a lot of great ones already mentioned. The one I would add though is Crysis. But, as for the best (including Crysis); way too many to name. Except, I wouldn't add Portal at all. And yeah, Metroid Prime, but that's more of an adventure game than a FPS. Borderlands, no, Far Cry for PC, not as much. Although the guns feel a bit better. Jeeze, you can't make a topic like this. All I want to do is go through all the games I've played and name them. But that's too much.
Team Fortress 2, great multiplayer Red Faction, great single player Red Faction 2, great multiplayer Resistance 2, great multiplayer Metroid Prime, great single player BioShock 1 and 2, great single player Half-Life 2, great single player Call of Duty 1 and 2, great single player Killzone 2, great single player F.E.A.R., great single player Borderlands, great single player Mirror's Edge, great single player. (not really a shooter, but, close enough)
meehhhh there's probably a lot that I'm failing to mention, oh well. Those are off the top of my head.
I rarely play FPS, only do them for Single Player, but the most enjoyable ones for me were:
Halo 3 Half-Life 2 Portal (I don't consider Portal to be an FPS however, you barely shoot)
oh these are a bit old but: Shogo, I could barely remember anything about that game but I enjoyed that. I also enjoy Unreal Tournament 1999, but I wasn't very good at it and just plays it casually.
I didn't get into FPS' really until I got my 360 but since then I'd have to go with CoD, Bioshock, Half-Life and I guess Metroid Prime, even though i only played the first one. Borderlands was pretty rad for the most part as well.
Mine won't be on any top 10 best sellers but maybe one. Here they go and it is just my opion. Fear series! Loved them all Half Life 2. By far the best I have ever played. Borderlands Left 4 Dead Series! Again Valve in there.
In no particular order the Halo games, the Half-Life games, Team Fortress 2 and Bioshock. I very much enjoyed Modern Warfare 2 as well and I see a lot of people have listed Portal here but in my book that game is definitely not an FPS.
