Deus Ex 2 was coming at a time I was quite jaded with the industry's offerings. Pre-release information and media were shining like a beacon of hope showing that this one game could restore my faith as it was set to be a modern classic like the original. What a shitty game it was in the end...
What are your most disappointing games of all time
All the Gears of war titles that end with a prime number (yes I am counting the first and the yet to be released 3rd as well.) Classic case of where a middling game gets overhyped. Traded it in for Assassins Creed and made money to boot!
" Mirror's Edge was a major disappointment for me. "Oh man I completely forgot about that one haha.
Gears of War 2 mainly because it takes forever to get into a match, Wolfenstein, Resistance Fall of Man, Perfect Dark Zero and Halo 3
- Batman: Dark Tomorrow
- Army Men games after the PC versions
- P.N.03
- Quake 4
- Devil May Cry 2
- Commandos: Strike Force
- New EACommand & Conquer games (starting with 3: Tiberium Wars)
- Final Fight: Streetwise
- Fighting Force 2
- New Silent Hill games (after 4: The Room)
- Justice League Heroes
- Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
- Nano Breaker
- C.O.R.E.
- Red Steel
- Dementium II
- Mortal Kombat: Special Forces
I originally wanted to post my own "disappointing games" list but then I thought, "hmmm...what if someone has beat me to it," so I just typed the word 'disappointing' at the forums and here I was." @Psykhophear: How did you find this thread? "
Uncharted 2, Final Fantasy VIII(Though I still really liked it), Disgaea.
I know a lot of people love these games, but they're just not my thing.
" My two biggest letdowns are Mercenaries 2 and Okami. "Okami? Really? Curious, why is that? Is it because of the lengthy cutscenes and dialogue? Or the characters are too cute for your taste?
Way to bump a thread with the biggest list EVAAAR. Someone gets dissapointed to easily.
However, I think: Guitar Hero 5.
Not the best :|
MK4, 3D doesn't work good for MK.
Every MOH, after allied assault.
Farcry2, Awful respawning enemies, long boring drives every mission is basically the same.
Bioshock,To cartoonish, weapons sounds are weak and little sisters annoy the hell out of me couldn't even get myself to finish it.
F.E.A.R.2 ,Huge downgrade from the first game horrible physics, graphics are worst gun sounds are weak, glowing enemies and worst hud iv ever seen.
Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. I enjoyed the game, but I was hoping for everything that the PS2 version had, plus SOMETHING from the 6 years in between the two. Completely new monsters were cool, but I found it easier to set up online games with friends over wifi on my psp than through the Wii. I guess it wasn't the games fault, more-so the choice to be made for the Wii.
Also, FF13 comes to mind...

The brush controls were broken (Or at least on my copy) and the chattering from the characters was un-fucking-bearable.
Heavy Rain - No redeemable features beyond Graphics. Writing/voice acting was awful, buggy/crashed four times + shit controls. Worst 60$ I ever spent on a game.
Alan Wake - Basically same problems as Heavy Rain except less hype and mediocre shooting thrown in.
The wii as a whole, basically I've found every internet hyped to hell game that isn't Mario to be utter crap (Conduit/madworld/sin and punishment/monster hunter tri SOO BAD ITS HILARIOUS)
Half Life 2 - Story was hyped to all beyond belief and didn't seem any better than generic fps number 4342. His name is Freeman...GET IT FREE MAN He is a Free man! OMG! I also hate the feel of shooting in the source engine for some reason everything feels weak as hell.
Empire Total War - Somehow was harder to control than all the older total war games, to the point I just quit unlike the above games.
Killzone 2 - Controls are blatantly broken, does not feel "realistic" feels broken. The cover system is awful, the story makes the shitty gears story look like a Greek Epic, and the multiplayer had all these cool ideas...too bad the gameplay was crap.
Insert random indy darling here with pretentious "story"/nonstory and shallow as hell gameplay (or in many cases essentially an interactive screen saver).
Every final fantasy past 6 ESPECIALLY 7 have been giant steps towards mediocrity/generic-ness/and crap.
LittleBigPlanet. I don't know, I was so excited for this game and stupidly I'm getting hyped for the sequel. The platforming just wasn't much fun and while you can play countless user-generated levels, overall the action you're doing in those levels is rarely exciting. I hope LBP2 fixes the floating but I don't see how they can mess with the physics too much considering it uses all the levels made for the original LBP. I think everybody thought making levels was going to be a lot more fun than it turned out to be.
