I dont know about anybosy else, but in this era of downloadable demos and expensive enough games, I often fall in love with some game demos but for some reason dont end up buying the game. Even for same games the demo is fun but you know the game wouldnt be, like the superman returns demo, its quite fun but its obviously a crappy game.
I mean I own more than 40 next gen games but that doesn't mean I have the budget to buy anything or the space so sometimes I would rather download the demo than buy it now at $20 from amazon. I would like to know if anybody else is in the same boat and what demo you sometimes find youself downloading again every six months.
For me the stand outs are:
Amped 3 (Xbox 360) You get a whole mountain face to snow board and a glider, awesome!
LOTR: Battles for middle-earth II (Xbox 360) It runs better than my PC version and the console cortrols were great
Call of Duty 2 (Xbox 360) Its a great demo, highlighting the best of the game, also gives me 360 launch fever all over again.
Civilisation Revolution (Xbox 360) Fun demo, dont think I'd play the whole game
Lost Planet (Xbox 360) There was something about this demo when It came out at E3 2006.
What about anybody else, similiar opinion?
What demo do you download over and over again.
I have never downloaded a demo repeatedly like you. If a games good I will opt to buy the game, and delete the demo.
" @Linkyshinks said:I can see that point. Most of the time, like Linkyshinks I buy the game, but there have been occasions where I had my fill of the game with the demo and don't need anymore. Puzzle games and the recent influx of "tower defense" games fall into that category. But, I must add that I've never redownloaded a demo once I've dumped it. There is just so much content available on the 360 and PSN that I rarely have time to go back and replay old demos when there are a bunch of new ones I've yet to experience." I have never downloaded a demo repeatedly like you. If a games good I will opt to buy the game, and delete the demo. "Yeah but don't you think that sometimes the demo is fun but you know that the game as a whole wont be worth the money? "
I played the Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising demo over and over. Novalogic realized their mistake after a while and ended the demo's online access :(
I played the Wanted: Weapons of Fate demo at least 5 times, but never bought it after the gloomy reviews.
Back in the day the Tony Hawk games had great demos. Never bought any of those games but played the demos to death.
" Back in the day the Tony Hawk games had great demos. Never bought any of those games but played the demos to death. "I did as well. Also, I got a demo for Metal Arms: Glitch in the System on disc at a Software Etc that I played the heck out of.
More recently, though, I think I played the Crackdown demo more than any other 360 demo. Of course, I ended up buying and loving that game.
" Civilisation Revolution (Xbox 360) Fun demo, dont think I'd play the whole game "I agree here. I'd probably have played it more if I hadn't bought it.
" The Half Life 1 demo was the greatest thing ever. It actually scared me as a 12 year old. And, it was totally unique - the demo area wasn't even included in the actual HL game. Epic. "Yeah man those demos are the best. Like the first timeshift demo that is nothing like how the game ended up.
I remember the demo for the original Star Wars Battlefront. It came with the official playstation 2 mag. It was way better than the game turned out because the final product was too balanced... well alot more balanced than the demo. In the demo you were a killing machine!
I don't really download demos multiple times. The only demos I have redownloaded have been the Mirror's Edge demo (xbox live) and the Peggle demo (Steam). Mirror's edge just for the experiance it offers despite the poor final game and peggle because it is so addictive and I don't actually own the game.
" While I havent downloaded it over and over again I tend to keep demo's of quick games that I can play for 5 minutes. I had the Perfect Dark Zero Demo on my 360 for a year and half so I could play a bot match for 2/3 minutes before I left. "OH MY GOD. I remember that game. It was so awesome.
Did you have the special demo disk they had once, and it had like 20 net yaroze games on it.
ahhhhhhhhhh memories.
" I remember playing the Crackdown demo a lot before the game came out. They only let play for 5 minutes at a time which is prbably why I was able to still enjoy the game after I bought it. "Yeah! I thought crackdown was awesome too actually. I remember when that demo came out, you ended up playing it with almost everybody on your friends list!
I suppose the demo I have played the most (and still haven't bought the full game) is RE5.
My friends used to play the Halo 1 demo constantly online (the demo allowed for online play on Blood Gulch only).
I've never downloaded demoes repeatedly. If you like it so much, it would be better in the interest of time to buy the actual game.
This is what I usually do with my 360, just download new demos and play them every time I turn on my 360 and then after I'm done with it I turn my 360 off... I havn't bought a 360 game in months.
The bioshock demo, I played the full game but I just love the very beginning so much.
I think i've probably downloaded it about 4 times.
-The first time
-When my family got our first HDTV to see how it looked
-When i got a surround sound set for dorm room and wanted to hear how it sounded
-When I got to go home and try it with 1080p and 5.1 surround sound
GH: Aerosmith. The demo is still on my 360 and Ive owned that game TWICE. The problem with that demo is that all the best songs are on it. There are only two reasons I owned the full game, firstly it was a cheap way to get a few points quickly, secondly to play "She sells sanctuary".
Stick with the demo.
The Halo Wars demo was great it had a ton of content on it. When the game finally came out and i bought it i was fucking really good at it, just because i had played the demo so many times.
None. There are too many other full games I want to play than to go back ad keep playing demos over and over again.
