Me, sometimes I drop the F' bomb and hit the floor.  What do you guys do when you get angry?  Break/throw the controller?  Punch something?

PS.  Thought it would go here in GD since it's kinda video game related.

#2 Posted by Karmum (11519 posts) -

I don't really tend to get angry at the video game. If I'm stuck in a certain part or I'm just frustrated, I will just off the console and take a break. Online gaming, perhaps a bit different. Occasional death via lag or something along those lines, I will normally mutter some profanity under my breath with a sigh to accompany it.

Who the fuck am I kidding, I was raging when it came to trying to get the Mile High Club achievement. When it comes to breaking or throwing my controller, I will say "Definitely not." Considering I'm not made of cash, I wouldn't go to such extremes to break my controllers to vent my rage, or inflict pain upon myself, or various other objects.

F-bomb, and drop controller.

#4 Posted by natetodamax (19192 posts) -

I usually slam the controller onto the ground or other hard object and curse under my breath. Here's the damage that I have done:

- Broken at least 3 Xbox controllers, not to mention the ones for the PS2 I've busted
- Actually put a small hole in the wall during the summer when I threw the controller in a CoD4 match
- Broke my chair that's in my room after slamming it in frustration

It's safe to say that I'm cold blooded when I game

Damn.  You sound like my brother.

I don't break anything. But I do tend to rage hard and swear if I get too frustrated.

#7 Posted by Vasta_Narada (443 posts) -

Depends on my level of anger/frustration. A couple examples of major frustration were the spider-walker-thing in Jak 3, where you fought it in the Sand Shark. I tried a few times, got pissed, and didn't play that game for a month.

In Persona 3 FES, I had grinded for 4 hours, and killed a freaking hard dungeon boss. My party was getting weak so I decided to go find an access point so I could warp the hell out of there. That didn't happen. A Shadow ended up sneaking up on me, and decimated my entire party. Yeah. I swore, dropped the controller, got a drink, surfed the web for a while, then (a couple hours later) said "I feel like playing Persona 3". I ended up grinding some more while listening to the Bombcast :P

I generally don't get too upset from games, but those two moments stick out in my mind.

#8 Posted by Vasta_Narada (443 posts) -

Oh yeah, and there was the Mile High Club achievement. I spent three hours straight on that son of a bitch, swearing, and freaking out (my dad was in the room the whole time and now thinks I'm mentally unbalanced). When I got it, I was so happy, I was sure I was high...I still fucking hate that achievement...

#9 Posted by StaticFalconar (4849 posts) -

I used to curse, yell, and had one case of yanking the game out and throwing it across the room.

I have grown up since then and other than the general F bomb just don't get mad anymore. There are plenty of things in life that frustrates much more.

#10 Posted by HistoryInRust (6293 posts) -

Turn the game off.

Usually, this step is foregrounded by cursing.  But cursing is a part of my everyday life, so I can't really fault the game.

#11 Posted by Jayge_ (10221 posts) -

In CoD4, me getting angry at the game usually means I'm winning, because the more intense it is, the more intense I am. If I'm losing by a large margin, I'm more laid back. Which seems to be true in most games. Unless I know I'm good enough to fuck those scrubs up.

Mostly, when I get legitimately angry at a game, I say "fuck you" and turn it off.

#12 Posted by Snipzor (3317 posts) -

Generally there are warning signs before the shit hits the fan, and the second you see them, stop playing. That's all it takes...

/I'll also play tetris from time to time

Post on the forums.

I do what a sane person does. I stop playing it. ;)
Then if I get angry enough, I come on the Internet and tell you fine people allllll about it.

I just say "fuck this shit" and turn it off.

I start talking like I'm in the show Deadwood ...this will show you what I mean.

Violence ensues, but it takes a LOT for a game to piss me off.  I mean, it's gotta be mind-numbingly infuriating for me to get pissed off.

Shit, you should've seen me when I was trying to beat Slayer's "Raining Blood" on GH III for the first time...
...or when I was a kid and played Mega Man 2 for the first time...
...or when I couldn't get past the part in Back to the Future where you are at the bar and you've gotta catch the drinks being thrown down the bar or suffer the wrath and beatings of the bully!!!

Fuck, I got SOOOOO pissed playing Back to the Future.  Such a great game, though.  Those bees pissed me off a ton too.

I guess now is a bad time to say it took me one attempt to get it.

Then again I cheated by listening to Pruitt Igoe instead of that song. Their representation of that song sucked balls.

I usually swear.

Raining Blood is a tough song.  It took me forever to beat that song on expert.

I usually cuss (although NOT F- words ) but nothing more than that .

#23 Posted by Duke_Lion (221 posts) -

The last time I was seriously pissed was on the final boss of heavenly Sword.  Fuck that guy.  I dropped so many F bombs.

I curse and then go... oh I'm sorry, I turned you off... time for a different game.

#25 Posted by MayorMcCheese (75 posts) -

I swear but if i get really pissed , for example  in COD:WAW when i was playing on veteran  i was throwing my controller or punching stuff.

I've never really thrown a controller or raged so that I come close to breaking anything, but if it's a tough part of the game or just something that's been annoying me over and over again then I'll yell a bit, curse perhaps. Mainly if I'm the only one in the house though, otherwise I just vent it up inside. :P

Save the game and then turn it off. This is usually followed by a deep breath and the use of so many swear words... man I say some terrible things....

Intense laughing begins when I know I should be doing well in a match, but I'm just sucking.

punch a horse

I get so mad my head explodes and I die.

#34 Posted by PenguinDust (12499 posts) -

Beat the kids. "Billy, Daddy's having a little bit of trouble with Bubble-bobble.  Get Daddy's belt."

Normally, I just mutter a few half-obscenities under my breath, vow to quit, continue playing until that level is finished, then actually quit.

#35 Posted by BiggerBomb (6944 posts) -

I say "fuck" a lot, whine, whack my bed with my fists, and occasionally pull my hair. I then put the controller down and wait until I've had a solid break (usually takes a day) before I get back into the game.

#36 Posted by crunchUK (5963 posts) -

i hurl abuse at my teammates JUST KIDDING LOL

I usually get a snack then play something else

#37 Edited by brukaoru (5079 posts) -

Sometimes I cuss, although I try to stop myself. Usually I'll just continue to try getting past the part of the game I'm stuck at or try again the next day if I become really frustrated.

#38 Posted by JonathanMoore (1858 posts) -

Yeah F-Bombs usually, otherwise its throwing the controller to the ground if I'm extremely pissed.

-- God Bless.

#39 Posted by Red (5995 posts) -

I'll just insult the game. Recently, while playing Persona 4, I was totally cheaped 3 floors into the first dungeon. I got owned so bad I couldn't even get to my turn before I died.

I promptly groaned, insulted the game, slammed my controller down on my bed, and then was just seriously pissed for the next 5-10 minutes.
I'm not one to throw controllers. The only ocassion where I did throw a controller was during the double-scarab battle in Halo 3. It was just so bloody frustrating. I was so mad that I threw my controller (I did aim it at another couch). My controller then bounced up off the couch, and hit a picture.

I'll get in a bit of a frenzy when I'm doing well in a match, but when it's not working out I'll tend to keep plugging away getting increasingly irate. The thing is I'm always trying to maintain my 2.0 kd ratio so a bad round is NOT cool.
#42 Posted by auspiciousqueue (1298 posts) -

When I get angry or frustrated and I'm alone, I usually try to stop doing what made me angry and then go out to garden, walk or something non-violent. If I'm with friends, I go to get them something from the kitchen or just walk away.

#43 Posted by xFRIGx (79 posts) -

it depends, like If I have a cold streak online, it will start with my dropping the F-bomb at a regular voice level, however If something like a sniper is watching my spawn and I really cant escape for nothing then I loose it completely and yell at the top of my voice. There is rare occassions when I will hit things but I would never break my controller or do anything that could cause it to.

Depends.

Angry= F-bombs and pounding my foot stool.

Frustrated= bury my head in my hands while dropping swear words.

Annoyed= "fuck this" and I play later.

I yell fuck and alt+f4 out the the game

#48 Posted by ArbitraryWater (11638 posts) -

When I was playing SSF2T:HDR I got frustrated a lot, mostly because everyone who played that game was far too good at it for my tastes. I would usually curse, and then turn off the Xbox so I could calm down.

This hadn't happened to me for years until I played SFIV and for the first time in forever, I actually threw the pad.
