What does it mean to be a video-gamer?

No one says "video gamer"... do they?

You're a person who enjoys games.

#5 Posted by SexyToad (2760 posts) -

I would say a video gamer would be some one who enjoys games and plays often.

@Dagbiker: I SAW THAT COMMERCIAL THE OTHER DAY AND SAID WHAT THE FUCK!!! When did Sony stop using him? I thought that advertising campaign was brilliant and now I'm sad to not see him in anymore commercials.

Titles are fucking stupid.

How about video-players?It would be akin to book readers or movie watchers.

Wouldn't game-player be more appropriate? VLC plays videos, I play games.

That's a term that people who don't play video games use.

To see the world as it should be.

Digital Interactivity Enthusiast?

Hell, the shitty but true answer is it means whatever it means to you.

My answer is that digital games excite, amuse, and intrigue me in a way different than any other medium, and until they fail to do so, I will spend too much time experiencing them.

I guess to your art teacher, it means you might know more about mythological creatures then the average non-gamer. I know I learned what Cerberus was through Final Fantasy, and the first time I recall anything about Medusa was in Kid Icarus. So I guess it's true. Gamers may know slightly more about mythological creatures than the average person.

>I'm thinking it looks pretty stupid

Why do you type like this?

#21 Edited by talkingtoast (85 posts) -

@CookieMonster: It's a 4chan thing. When you use it on 4chan it turns the text green, to signify that a story is being told.

Edit: For example, http://i.imgur.com/OrKH8.jpg

@CookieMonster: He's clearly quoting someone.

I don't know, video gamer means you like video games, as opposed to a card gamer, board gamer, sports gamer, you know.

It means to be raw, son. To be fierce. To use your superior hand eye co-ordination for only good, not evil. Gamers are chosem people to lead mankind. The world order as we know is tearing apart, and in the new world, it is gamers that shall reign supreme.

Being a real video-gamer means you put video-games before people and their stupid feelings, that's what.

#28 Posted by Milkman (16660 posts) -

You play video games...?

#29 Posted by ShaggE (6419 posts) -

"Hey video gamers! Do you like to get your game on? Then you'll loooooove the real life high scores you'll get with mythology! It's a 1Up for your education! Mario is a video game character!"

#30 Posted by That1BlackGuy (217 posts) -

Don't think you can explain it any better than this. A "Gamer" or "Video Gamer" is just someone who plays Video Games. Like a Movier goer is someone who likes to watch movies.

But don't get me started on those stupid fucking sub-names like 'Hardcore Gamers"
