What game developer would you like to tackle a particular series?

I was very much anticipating Aliens: Colonial Marines, a couple years ago, but after seeing the E3 footage it feels like they are missing the essence of what makes Alien and Aliens so good, that feeling of being powerless and the panic that comes from that. While Aliens was more action filled, ultimately the badass space marines were incapable of defeating the xenomorphs, something I'm not seeing from the Colonial Marines footage.

Granted this would be hard to transfer into the gaming medium, especially horror which seems to be becoming more and more action orientated. Then it struck me, which game developer has created an engrossing horror experience entirely devoid of combat and brimmed full of tension? The guys at Frictional Games, the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Then my imagination went into overdrive of the this perfect marriage of game developer and source material and the intense experience they could create.

So Gaintbomb can you think of any other developers that you think would be perfect for a certain series?

I did want Bioware to do a WW2 game where you can play different classes and stuff like back then... then ME3 happened and I can't honestly trust them with even doing the most simple of ideas at this point. For a WW2 game I am betting that at the end they would've had a hologram of Hitler, Stalin and Patton to give you three choices on which colored explosion you want with a slideshow afterwards.

I want Retro Studios to do a Zelda game. Seems like it could give a fresh breath of air.

Level 5 - Saints Row - It would be all kinds of crazy, But it would deliver all this craziness through text.

also

Telltale / Double Fine - Doctor Who - The Puzzles of Telltale, with the humor of Double Fine.

Honestly, I'd most like to see what Retro can do if they're given the go-ahead for an entirely new IP. Even if it is reskinned Metroid, I want to see what they can do.

On topic, I don't know. I really don't.

I would like to see this as well. Zelda could use a change from it's formula.

How about a Square Enix Elder Scrolls? Music by Yoko Shimomura.

  @Jay444111: Bioware were way too ambitious with the progressive choices in Mass Effect, but I gotta love them for trying. It's not surprising that something so ambitious would ultimately lead to a lot people being disappointed. But you have to remember they are capable of creating amazing characters and engrossing worlds, I think they would benefit from trying a smaller project for their next game. I would like to see somebody try tackle World War 2 or World War 1 from a different perspective, and I think Bioware could have an interesting stab at it, although I feel Assassin's Creed could do something very interesting there.

@Jack268
 Nintendo really need to do something new with Zelda, although after their handling of a talking Samus in Other M, I'm not sure If I want them creatively in control of the next Zelda game.

@Dagbiker
 A good Doctor Who game would be something I'd love to see, and I think a Point and Click style game would really fit it! Although it depends if the Double Fine crew are into Doctor Who, what the game needs is a lot of heart behind it to make it work.

Never played Layton but I can only imagine what kind of matchstick puzzles would be in that game.

@Dylabaloo: If you mean Retro Studios, I don't think they had anything to do with Other M, it was made by Team Ninja. If you mean from Nintendo's side, it was Sakamoto and he isn't going to be working on Zelda.

NetherRealm Studios does Pokemon. ~ Fight!

Fatality-chu.

@Dylabaloo: Jade Empire 2!

The Super Smash Bros. dev team make a Pokemon game in the same vein as SSB, but battles are like the SSB battles and there is still an open world to explore. Something like that.

LightBox Interactive handle a Star Wars Battlefront game.

a SMT (not persona or anything, mainline SMT) game developed by CD projekt RED could possibly be super amazing

@mrpandaman: That sounds like a Pokeman game I'd want to play, get on that! It confounds me how a Battlefront game hasn't been made this generation, seems like a perfect fit with the online capabilities of the current generation.

I think Aliens: Colonial Marines still looks like Aliens. I'm sure it's a game where in the end everyone, or at least your squad mates, die.

I would like Atlus to take The World Ends With You , just so I can finally see that awesomeness on console, and is not something far from what they do with Persona.

I agree with the no part. However even I admit to being interested in such a project.

Another thing I want to see is Platinum games work on a Remake of SMT Strange Journey, instead of turn based it would be a lot like vanquish... it would be fucking amazing if done right.

Indeed, a Pokemon action game could be pretty cool...maybe if Blizzard made a pokemon add-on for Diablo or something...that'd be kinda awesome...

Realistically, though, I wouldn't mind it if BioWare got their hands on the Avatar animated series and created a completely new story, either taking place a cycle or two after the current happenings or pull a KotOR and go many cycles before. It's a very epic franchise with obvious space for an expanded universe. BioWare could do it well, although I doubt Nickolodeon would ever allow moral choices, and would of course force kids into the game.

Give Devil May Cry to Platinum Games.

Give Silent Hill to Frictional Games

So would that title be just Final Fantasy 15 set in Tamriel or something else?

I personally would like to see Bethesda pick up that canceled Pirates of the Caribbean game and that canceled LOTR RPG. I would also like to see Avalanche Studios try their hand at a GTA title.

see now that's a terrible idea, it's not like strange journey's story is all that compelling (it takes shit from SMT 1 and 2 pretty liberally), so what's the point?

I know right!? It's proven it can kind of be done. Look at all the Pokemon in the SSB games. You have the all the directional B button attacks as the four special moves the Pokemon can learn and on the "a" and "b" you have simple attacks.

I really loved Battlefront 2 and if the next Battlefront could be like Starhawk that'd be pretty damn awesome albeit the pace could slow down just a little more. Space to land battles, spaceship to spaceship. I don't think there's another developer who is more well suited to do it than the LightBox Interactive guys.

Also how about Atlus Persona Team handle the next Final Fantasy?

Irrational Games work on the Aliens franchise instead of Gearbox? They know how to make a good and creepy atmosphere developers of both Bioshock and System Shock 2 presents Aliens.

CD Projekt Red work on a Warhammer Fantasy game or on the Elder Scrolls series.

Crystal Dynamics on Metroid...

Last one would be Sony Santa Monica make a Mortal Kombat third person action adventure game.

I would love to see Bioware do an original Role-playing action game that's set in the Star Trek universe, just like they did with Knights of the Old Republic. I don't mind if they choose to set it the universe that was introduced in the 2009 film. I would pay for that game if it gets made, on it's first weekend.

@Jay444111:

I understand you're deeply upset with how Mass Effect 3 turned out, but surely you still have fond memories of their older games don't you? For example, Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire are two of my favorite games that were made by Bioware, and they're both wonderful games.

Please give them another chance, and try to trust them again. That's all I ask.

So what's wrong with CD projekt RED doing a SMT game? please spell it out for all us non-picture posting types out there.

OT: Kojima on the next Batman game, but throw in Grant Morrison for proper story filtering...also keep rocksteady as the gameplay side of the equation.

ALSO:

Any western dev taking a project from a Japanese dev because I wanna start controversy?!~!

I'd love to see Firaxis do a proper Jagged Alliance. Seeing their work on XCOM makes me think it could really work. I'd love to see Bethesda do up a take on Arcanum or Quest for Glory, too.

I'm still waiting on that damn Telltale King's Quest, though. I hope they get to that one soon.

I'd like to see IO Interactive (the minds behind Hitman) take a stab at Naughty Bear. I think the premises behind Naughty Bear is great, but the execution fell flat and was sloppy. I think if IO Interactive could give it the same polish they give Hitman, with the near limitless possibilities Naughty Bear would allow, it could be amazing.

Edit: I'd also like to see Rare get a shot at Raze's Hell.
