I always feel like GB has taken game journalism "to the next level" or whatever you want to call it, essentially promoting each individual editor instead of hiding behind the site's name pretending everyone is the same ("This is what we thought of the game" or "come join us as we tell you what we think of it!") and yet for some reason they still hold onto this dumb and outdated idea of a unified GOTY.@Abyssfull said:
GOTY is usually so obvious every year that I'm always much more excited to see the ''Top 10'' videos for each individual staff member.
Overall GOTY's are bullshit, but the individual lists are good.
Everyone is different and everyone is going to have a different opinion for GOTY, so what is even the point of a unified one? iirc last year ME2 was only the winner on 2 of the guy's lists, and wasn't even in Alex's top 10 and yet it won overall goty. Why? Clearly most of the staff didn't think it was the best game of the year since they each spent prior days telling us what was the best. I honestly can't even take unified GOTY choices seriously, on GB or any site. Individual is the way to go, always. Oh and Skyrim is clearly going to win, though I will be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't.
That is the truth brother.
