The Mount&Blade games, especially Warband which consumed about 450 hours of my life when I discovered it last year. The graphics are terrible, but a low-budget game made in Turkey has absolutely no right to be that ambitious, to control that well in 3D, and to just generally be totally awesome.
Not entirely sure, but I'm leaning towards Blake Stone (I think it had a rather small development budget, but can't find any specific numbers) and Skyroads (a space themed arcade ... jumping game(?), released as shareware which I spent a good part of a decade playing).
