I don't know about you, but I enjoy good names of things. It's a thing I have I don't know I'm weird.

Anyway, what would you say is your favorite game name? Currently the best one I can think of is Sins of a Solar Empire. Too bad I don't like the game at all, but still.

I'm pretty sure there was a game on Greenlight called "War Battles" which is a pretty fantastic name but I can't find it anymore

Red Dead Redemption always had a nice ring to it, in my opinion. I also admire the to-the-point title the Hitman games sport, along with pretty nice grandiose subtitles like Contracts, Blood Money and Absolution.

I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but every time I see Blade Symphony in my Steam library, I sorta nod my head, do a golf clap, and whispered "well played."

Magenta Nutcase Kitchenfloor.

If you get the reference, you're a cool duder.

Sword of the Stars is pretty good.

Also; I always find Squid Yes, Not So Octopus to be an amusing name.

Bonus answer: I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream - which shouldn't really count, as its name is taken directly from a short story.

I don't know ... Shadow of the Colossus or The Last of Us ?

Titles like Ilomilo and Ibb & obb are pretty cute . Or even Ratchet & Clank .

Binding of Isaac is a favorite, especially with the expansion surname of Wrath of the Lamb. I know they're stolen directly from other sources, but still great.

Off the top of my head, Chrono Trigger, The World Ends With You, Castlevania subtitles (e.g. Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, etc), Hotline Miami, Mass Effect, and Geometry Wars are all good names.

Jet Set Radio, Ace Attorney, Divekick, Ghost Trick, Hotline Miami, Fallout, Mirror's Edge, Portal, Zeno Clash?

#1 is probably Divekick.

#18 Posted by Daneian (1226 posts) -

Hotline Miami is incredibly evocative.

#19 Posted by Hailinel (24272 posts) -

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War is very evocative of what the game is about.

#20 Posted by Clonedzero (4196 posts) -

Mass Effect.

Its the core principle around the technology in the sci-fi universe the game takes place in. It's an interesting term that calls for investigation, and its a snappy phrase. It's brilliant really.

SimCity. Short and to the point. No pretentious subtitles, and you know what you're getting even if all you have available to you is a department stores barcode sticker!

BELIEVE IN YOUR JUSTICE!

Or if you prefer: HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?!

Biggest ham ever.

Minecraft says what you do. Command and Conquer as well. X3: Albion Prelude just sounds nice to me, even though I've still only played Terran Conflict. Sins of a Solar Empire is also good.

I also like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. subtites - Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, Call of Pripyat.

#45 Edited by Ryuku_Ryosake (208 posts) -

I was always a fan of Demon's Souls because of its very specific singular and plural usage.

Also Hyperdimension Neptunia mk.2 for sheer dumb.

Can't forget Bravely Default: Flying Fairy for most japanese.

Even though it didn't last so it doesn't really count but The Next Great Sequel in the Saint's Row Franchise is the best title.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch gets my vote as well. So brilliant... or dumb. Either way, it's fantastic.

Also Phantasmagoria. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?

Also Phantasmagoria. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?

From Wikipedia:

Phantasmagoria ( American pronunciation (help·info), also fantasmagorie, fantasmagoria) was a form of theatre which used a modified magic lantern to project frightening images such as skeletons, demons, and ghosts onto walls, smoke, or semi-transparent screens, frequently using rear projection. The projector was mobile, allowing the projected image to move and change size on the screen, and multiple projecting devices allowed for quick switching of different images. Invented in France in the late 18th century, it gained popularity through most of Europe (especially England) throughout the 19th century.

I like the name "Tactics Ogre" a lot just because of the way it sounds, but the subtitle kind of ruins it. Makes it sound all pretentious and uppity.

Just "sounds", by the way, I don't know if the game itself is.

Let Us Cling Together ties the whole title together.

I love pretention in moderation.
