I am unsure if topic was made recently or not, but I think this deserves some discussion because, in reality, there is some really fucking awesome box art out there. Just to make sure we don't stretch out each page to infinity, everyone only has ONE picture per post unless it is of the same game but different versions. Here we go!

My choice is the Dead Island box art. Sure, the game gets flack, but I had fun with it and I gotta admit, the box art is so awesome that I would actually display it for how well done it is.

I agree, all of their covers are pretty bad ass, I personally think the Vice City one is the best though. IMO at least.

Definitely up there with the best

Also, its kinda funny how this cover is one of the best, and the US cover, is one of the worst.

Oh, it makes me excited all over again just looking at it.

@Redbullet685: That was one of the ones I was thinking about. Some of the best covers are the ones that are foreign or weren't used. I also like clean, streamlined covers; covers that really convey the heart of the game.

I really wish this was the US box art :/  I guess if I was that "cool" I'd just print it off and replace my box art.

I highly prefer The Xbox Collection's version of the cover. The one with the silhouetted docks at dusk.

I prefer the Ninja Gaiden II box art. Also, I made a list about this very subject a while back.

Favorite Cover Art

In selling a game, box art can sometimes make all the difference. While there have been notable disasters over the years, covers so dreadful that they scare small children and cause fainting spells in those with weak constitutions, I decided to focus on the positive for this list. These are games featuring cover art that I find particularly eye-catching in a good way.

As an additional note, as I am an American, this list is focused on the North American cover art unless the game was never officially released in North America.

1. Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos

An old classic. The use of color, particularly with the city skyline against the night sky, is a striking image.

2. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly

Fatal Frame II's cover is, in a word, creepy, and it escalates to disturbing if you look at it for long enough.

3. Muramasa: The Demon Blade

A beautiful use of color that perfectly evoke's the game's art style.

4. Dead Space

Effective punctuation to the game's atmosphere of dread. Also, the severed arm is part of Dead Space canon. Who did it belong to? I'm not telling!

5. Valkyrie Profile

The cover art for the original Playstation version of Valkyrie Profile is much more simple and elegant than that of the PSP remake.

6. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

The Fire Emblem series has a history of covers featuring numerous characters from the games. This is one of the best.

7. Odama

OH MY GOD WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!

8. Kessen III

This cover really evokes the idea of leading an army into the fray. I really like the detail and use of color in it.

9. The Dark Spire

The simple design of the cover for The Dark Spire harkens back to the early computer RPGs that the game was designed to evoke.

10. Hotel Dusk: Room 215

Another cover that emphasizes simplicity, it focuses on the two characters most central to the game's story.

I can't really think of others that haven't been mentioned in this thread besides Darksiders. I really like the color and style of the cover art.

I think this is by far the most powerful cover art I've seen. I can't even bare to look at this for too long.
