So, I'm trying to remember the name of a game I played about 10 years ago. Here is what I remember:

It was a space sim.

It was open world...sorta....I think. I didn't get very far past the basic intro/tutorial, but it seemed that you could go anywhere once it opened up.

It was NOT freelancer.

The story opened with you as a kid, your father is killed. This AI/floating hologram head tells you that you need to look for your grandmother, who is a famous space pirate. You go to her abandoned base for flight training.

It was on PC. Can't speak for other platforms, but I'm sure it was a PC exclusive.

And that is about it. Any clues?

It's western developed, I'm sure. Likely Euro, so it's not Phantasy Star. it's NOT FREELANCER. I remember freelancer. And DrkStarOne was some years after i played this, so it's not that either, though there were similarities.

@Aelric: Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos

My question is why you want to know if you only played the tutorial xD

We have a winner. Thanks Mihos.

TheFreepie: I just remembered it recently, I think due to the Space Suit Zero QL and couldn't remember the name. The setup was interesting, and the promise of Elite-style gameplay was appealing. I have no memory if I liked it or not.
