Mine has gotta be the sound made by Ken/Ryu when you pull off a Tatsumaki Sempyaku, simply because of the fact that it sounds something like... "HapRepApEuKen!"
Or maybe I'm just going deaf. :P
What is your favorite quote from a video game?
In recent years it has to be...
"You're like free pizza at an anime convention. She can smell you. And she wants to consume you." —Snake Fist, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
I always heard that as "Hikhekhekdurgen" or something close. Anyway, let me do one from memory and watch as Firefox spell check kinda butchers the original:
This wretched world does not reward endeavor. It is the patron and his troupe who are receipt - maggots grown fat on endeavor's course. Most men but play the part they're given. Most live and die, not knowing they play a part at all. But I am past all that now. No more shall I be their unwitting puppet. No more! I will exact from them the price of their gluttonous feast!
Anybody care to guess which game that's from?
Ohgren in Dragon Age Origins: Lets show them our hearts, and then show them theirs!
John Marshton in Red Dead Redemption: We die alone but live among men.
Urdnot Wrex in Mass Effect 1:.....Shepard.
Nate scales the wall and reaches the rooftops. A guard walks up to the edge of the rooftop.
Harry: There's a guy above you, there's a guy above you.
Nate pulls the guard off the roof.
Harry: There's a guy below you, there's a guy below you.
Not my favorite favorite, but one I really like.
"Haha, yeah. I laughed so much at that part. Not my favorite favorite, but one I really like. "Nate scales the wall and reaches the rooftops. A guard walks up to the edge of the rooftop.
Harry: There's a guy above you, there's a guy above you.
Nate pulls the guard off the roof.
Harry: There's a guy below you, there's a guy below you.
God, I love Borderlands
"Too late...friends. Nefarius' corruption has taken hold. I cannot...control myself. I beg you Mortals, flee! Flee before I lose all sense of control. The Black Fire rages within my heart. I must release it! FLAME! DEATH! DESTRUCTION! COWER MORTALS BEFORE THE WRATH OF LORD....NO! I MUST FIGHT THIS! ALEXSTRASZA, HELP ME! I MUST FIGHT!"
First time doing Vael in vanilla WoW (patch 1.6 in black wing lair), first time hearing this epic intro, and it didn't get any less epic as we learned and eventually defeated the encounter. Marks the high point in my WoW career. Such a cool fight.
From the top of my head:
- GET BENT
- I can't believe it, this is fantastic. It's really good.
- FK. In the coffee. I knew I could count on it.
"Five years ago, I lost thirty-thousand men in the blink of an eye...and the world just fucking watched. Tomorrow, there will be no shortage of volunteers, no shortage of patriots. I know you understand." - General Shepard
It pretty much sums up his entire story arc in two sentences and makes you realize that good intentions don't always pan out.
It's not really from a game, but from a game trailer. The TF2 trailer for Meet the Soldier is just one long huge awesome quote.
"And from that day forward, anytime a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo!
...UNLESS IT'S A FARM!!"
Hard to choose just one, so here are a few:
- "Aha! Is this our chance?" -- Chie, Persona 4
- "What a crew!" -- Rufus, Final Fantasy VII
- "Prepare yourselves, the bells have tolled! Shelter your weak, your young and your old! Each of you shall pay the final sum! Cry for mercy; the reckoning has come!" -- The Headless Horseman, World of Warcraft
"Over time, my husband may desire me less sexually, but he will always appreciate my pies." - G-Man, Psychonauts
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?
No, says the man in Washington; it belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican; it belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow; it belongs to everyone.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose...
Rapture!
"Vae Victus, suffering to the conquered. Ironic that now I was the one suffering. Not anything as pedestrian as physical pain. Rather the cruel jab of impotent anger, the hunger for revenge. I didnt care if I was in Heaven or Hell, all I wanted was to kill my assassins. Sometimes you get what you wish for. The Necromancer Mortanius offered me a chance for vengeance. And like a fool, I jumped at his offer without considering the cost. Nothing is free. Not even revenge."
From the time when vampires actually were cold hearted bastards.
Red Dead Redemption - ''I left the gang after the gang left me''
Half-Life 2 - ''Wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up and smell the ashes''
I also like this one from Portal 2 - ''I think we can put our differences aside..for science..you monster '' - not sure if it's gonna be in the actual game
I love everything that Bison says in Japanese in SSF4
Planescape: Torment: "What can change the nature of a man?"
Planescape: Torment: "I intend to uncover the secrets of the Multiverse by eating large amounts of freshwater fish and covering my body with cottage cheese."
Planescape: Torment:
"Nordom: Attention; Morte. I have a question. Do you have a destiny? A purpose?
Morte: Is Annah still wearing clothes?
Nordom: Affirmatory.
Morte: Then the answer is yes."
Planescape: Torment: "There is no room for '2' in the world of 1's and 0's, no place for 'mayhap' in a house of trues and falses, and no 'green with envy' in a black and white world."
I could continue to quote this game forever, it's just so awesome.
Edit: Forgot one of the best ones:
Planescape: Torment
If there is anything I have learned in my travels across the Planes, it is that many things may change the nature of a man. Whether regret, or love, or revenge or fear - whatever you believe can change the nature of a man, can. I’ve seen belief move cities, make men stave off death, and turn an evil hag's heart half-circle. This entire Fortress has been constructed from belief. Belief damned a woman, whose heart clung to the hope that another loved her when he did not. Once, it made a man seek immortality and achieve it. And it has made a posturing spirit think it is something more than a part of me.
"Contact. Enemy Man. 12'o clock. Two-hundred meters. One One Two One Three Three One. Engage That "
- Arma 2
"So tell me, friend, which one of the bitches sent you? The KGB wolf, or the CIA jackal? Here's the news: Rapture isn't some sunken ship for you to plunder, and Andrew Ryan isn't a giddy socialite who can be slapped around by government muscle. And with that, farewell, or dasvidaniya, whichever you prefer." - Andrew Ryan, Bioshock.
In Army of Two
Rios: So let's stay outta each other's hair and get this thing done.
Clyde: No problem ,FUCK-O
Rios: Fuck-o? Who says that?
Guile's SHIT-KABOOM!!! in Street Fighter EX3 lol! Sounds worse than Ryu or Ken's tatsu lol!

Guybrush: Can I call you ‘Bob’? (Referring to the undead pirate Bob from the first game whose skull kept fallingMurray: You may call me ‘Murray’! I am a powerful demonic force! I am the harbinger of your doom! And the forces of darkness will applaud me as I stride through the Gates of Hell – carrying your head on a pike!
Guybrush: “Stride”?
Murray: All right then, roll! Roll through the Gates of Hell! Must you take the fun out of everything?
Oh cool thanks.
MGS4 spoilers
By the way, Fuck Moose.
just kidding
"War has changed. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control."
"Wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up and smell the ashes"
"The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world"
Anything from G-Man and Andrew Ryan. But there are so many!
" "Well, queef a dog balloon!" -GTA IV And all random pedestrian banter in that series. "This is true. I have a special place in my heart for the creepy cops of San Fierro myself. "First I'm gonna bust that ass, then I'm gonna fuck it." (or some variation of such words)
I still get shivers.
