What is your favorite video game series?
OK what is your favorite series of video games. I decided to only include games with at least 3 games and of course I forgot some but these are the big ones that come to mind.
i voted for grand theft auto, ive played every single one and loved every single one (including 1&2) and im really looking forward to GTA5. so yeah, gta gets my vote.

I wanted to select Halo but Halo and Elder Scrolls have a very close run.
Also you really need to put STALKER on there. One of the greatest series' of all time.
Sorry but I have no idea what STALKER even is. I actually thought of a couple I wish I would have included after hitting submit.
GTA or ME? Well ME wins just because they are actual sequels. But saying that a ME game were you are a Space Pirate instead of the galaxys savior would be cool.
Uhhh...
I don't really know. I'll easily claim fandom of individual games, but as the Metroid series has shown me, claiming that one entire series is, always has been, and always will be better than everything else isn't really something I want to do. Clouds my judgement of quality and all that.
Still, thus far I'd say Metroid if you exclude Other M and Hunters. You also excluded Mega Man and Donkey Kong Country and, well, a metric shitton of other stuff that should be in there. I'd say a poll was a bad idea.
@FluxWaveZ: Persona was one that I wished I would have included after hitting submit. I also regretted leaving off Devil May Cry, Fallout, and Price of Persia. I also didn't think of any handheld exclusive or PC exclusive games because I rarely play them. I also didn't include a lot of niche series because either I didn't think of them or didn't figure anybody would pick them. These are the big console titles with at least 1 release in the last few years.
@GTCknight: YOU MUST ANSWER IT!!!!!!!!!!!! As stated there was no way I was going to get all game series and these are probably the biggest AAA titles still being released and that may should have been the title what is your favorite AAA series instead of just favorite series.
@Marcsman: I know and the funny thing is that I like Fallout better than 90% of the games I put on there but I just forgot it.
Why is this a poll? o_o And there isn't even an OM option...
Anyway, from that list I would pick Mass Effect, even though I gave up on it before #3.

Dead Space
I only included games with at least 3 entries. I thought of Dead Space and also Bioshock but decided to keep it at least 3 entries.
@sopranosfan: I answered it for you. My choice is Halo. Although that's primarily because I'm a Bungie fan. They have always made great games and they actually listen to their fans, even going so far as to partake in fan made events. They even made a special room in halo-reach for their fans as a thank you.
Note: You still have time to add those three games plus STALKER in your list.
I find it funny that probably the best selling video game series of all time, Call of Duty, has no votes.
What's with the lack of strategy franchises? No Starcraft? No Age of Empires? No Total War? But with the choices up there, I went with Mario.
@Nightriff: You are probably correct about Mario games being the best selling. I was just thinking of every time a Call of Duty game is released they talk about it making the most money from a game in a week, then in a month. But I forgot that owning a Nintendo system means it is pretty much mandatory to buy a Mario game.
GTA is easily my favorite game series. When GTA4 came out I played through it twice that month; I never do that for games that long. GTAV has been my most anticipated game since it was announced, and I hope they release it this year.
God this is a hard choice. Halo comes to mind first since Halo CE is largely responsible for why I'm the gamer I am now. Mass Effect also comes to mind, and Metal Gear Solid too, but that's a more recent addition. Those are the three I'd probably go with.
Man, that's a hard question. There a lot of series that I grew up with like Metroid and Zelda that I sort of fell out of love with due to not owning a Nintendo console for several generations. Then there are the BioWare series like Dragon and Age and Mass Effect that I enjoyed a lot initially but where the quality took a nose dive in subsequent entries. Same goes for Final Fantasy - a lot of good memories but it's never been a consistently good series.
So . . . Elder Scrolls, maybe? I've played every one since Morrowind and that's the only series that I've consistently had fun with without a bad game or two breaking the rhythm.
I think I would say zelda because it's the most consistently amazing.
I love all the 3D installments and at least 3 of them are some of the best things I've ever experienced
The Yakuza series as far as I've played it (3-5) has been consistently great for me. I also really like the Modern Warfare trilogy, though as a whole the COD series has had to many downs for me to call it my favorite series.
The Blackwell series is also great from start to finish, and if mafia 3 turns out as good as I hope, that might be another contender.
- Ratchet & Clank
- Sly Cooper
- Metroid Prime (Super is the superior game, but the Primes are more consistently good than base Metroid.)
- Igavania (linear Castlevanias not so much)
At least as far as series that have been consistently good are concerned. There are some other franchises, like Zelda and Final Fantasy, that have some entries that are some of my favorite games ever, and others that are some hot garbage (I'm looking at you Skyward Sword and XIII trilogy!)
I can't see the poll (if there is one) but...Metal Gear Solid for me. I like the bits where the characters say things.
