Just curious to see what others always have stuck in their heads. For me, it's the theme from Dr. Wily's first stage in Mega Man 2. For an NES game, it still has that 8-bit bassline that I'm never going to forget.
What is your one favorite piece of VG music?
Er, Main Night 6 from Viva Pinata: TiP.
You can check it out here.
Edit: Linked directly to the MP3.
The Skygunner (PS2 game) song "Wishing for an Eternal Sky"This one has been stuck in my head for years now.
EDIT: I reduced my post to just the one choice. Like I said, it's been rattling around my brain for about 5 years now. It's been on all my consoles and ipods during that time, as well.
"Pretty much the same thread as this. Which was created a few days ago."I'm going to give this the green light. He's asking for one, definitive song from us. If people begin posting their entire collections, I'll shut it down, but as long as it is simply our top tune, it's fine.
"Pretty much the same thread as this. Which was created a few days ago."It seems to be a popular subject on GiantBomb. :)
There's probably gonna be a topic like this every other week on average. Maybe they should sticky one it might help.
Oh, and Under Logic from Streets of Rage 2 or pretty much anything else from that game.
"Wishing for an Eternal Sky"Those were pretty good :o)Under Logic
It's all about the Hell March from Command & Conquer: Red Alert. \m/
I like all the classics, of course, but the one song that really stood out to me is Dire Dire Docks, especially the version on this album. It makes me feel super calm and nostalgic at the same time. Who could ask for more?
Many of the RPGs I play, like Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, the usual. And may I say that playing the FF7 Overworld Theme while playing the new Prince of Persia does WONDERS?
"It's all about the Hell March from Command & Conquer: Red Alert. \m/"Meh. Act On Instinct is still the best C&C track, imho.
"HarryZero said:I'd go with Hell March."It's all about the Hell March from Command & Conquer: Red Alert. \m/"Meh. Act On Instinct is still the best C&C track, imho."
Yeah i wanted to say Wily Castle 1 from MM2...
Fever - Dr Mario. Its almost electronica in its original form and its easy to whistle it.
Twist and Battle or Funky Monkey Dance - Mother 3i remix. Cant pick really.Theyre both great songs.
Saturn Valey - Earthbound. For a 1 minute track its pretty memorable.
If I had to pick one... Pokey Means Business! from Earthbound.
Also, these other tracks are fantastic:
The Tendas' Cave
Eight Melodies
Giygas is Wounded!
Hi Hi Hi (Saturn Valley)
I'm also a fan of the scores in Oblivion, KOTOR, Braid, and Halo 3, as well as plenty of other Nintendo games from my past.
"I like all the classics, of course, but the one song that really stood out to me is Dire Dire Docks, especially the version on this album. It makes me feel super calm and nostalgic at the same time. Who could ask for more?"That site was awesome. I liked the Super Mario World BGM Overworld (Jazzy!) and Sonic the Hedgehog - Green Hills Zone songs best. The Sonic one just made me feel nostalgic too for a time when I'd sit up for hours playing that on my Genesis. The Super Mario World one reminded me of Vince Guaraldi's work.
I really like the main halo theme. It's just so epic and really a great piece. Of course there's also some catchy songs from the nes era like the SMB theme or megaman.
You know, it's really about how it matches up to the mood as well. Here's DMC. It's not really great music by itself (but not bad), but in game its awesome
Very similar to Twisted Metal's soundtrack's vibe.
and then of course, there's a ton of uematsu stuff. I'll just pick one from one of his more recent games.
The most memorable song I've ever heard in a game is this: http://tinyurl.com/dhnd8d
"Er, Main Night 6 from Viva Pinata: TiP.David Wise is the shit.
You can check it out here.Edit: Linked directly to the MP3."
On that note, Forest Interlude - Donkey Kong Country II.
"Ahhh.......Every time you post, I am completely smitten. Why do you know the best answers to all the world's questions?
Tristram."
For the sake of avoiding redundancy, I'm going with "LG Orbifold" from Half-Life 2. This is easily my favorite piece of music in a first-person shooter.
