Obviously, we have fake Guitars, drums, microphones (I guess those aren't fake.) and turntables for our music games, but I think we are missing out on some potentially crazy peripherals.  Personally, i wish they made a fake banjo, that would be cool, seeing as i have zero interest in actually playing a real banjo.

Any other ideas?

Key-tar Hero. Maybe xylophone hero?

#6 Posted by Karmum (11519 posts) -

Hm, pianos, why not? Piano + Vocals would be kind of cool. Nobody tell Activision though.

Banjo-Kazoo Hero.

Keyboard. or Tuba. Tuba Hero would be the best game of all time.

#9 Posted by Xolare (1285 posts) -

Does no one know of the Miracle Piano for the NES? But yeah a Piano would be nice. But then it would either end up being to hard of a periphial to use because of all the keys, or ending up stupid because of a lack of keys. Personally, I'd like to see another string peripheral like a Bass, Cello, or Violin of some type.

AVGN showed it off in his NES Accessories video for people who want to see it.

Piano so that they could make a Queen: Rock Band.

All the vocals would be diabolically difficult.

'Cowbell Hero!'
Nothing but 'dont fear the reaper'!....... actually, that may not be too good an idea, i can think of one game that had that in its soundtrack, and things didn't turn out too well:

The world could really use a comb and wax paper peripheral, although I wouldn't say no to a kazoo one either.

#14 Posted by Absurd (2934 posts) -

No more fake instruments.

That would mean you'd have to empty out your plastic peripheral's spit valve, as a former school band member, thats not fun.

The people who make rhythm games, IE: Harmonix, Activision

I knew someone would ask that.......

Accordion Hero.

It would be a big hit in Appalachia

#20 Posted by torus (1097 posts) -

They should make a full-sized pipe organ. With all the keys.

#21 Posted by misterpope (381 posts) -

Defintely Piano. I'll settle for Key-tar.
#22 Posted by ShaunassNZ (2128 posts) -

Maybe they should re-vamp how the guitar is used maybe have strings (sure it will be hard but if they put enough thought into it the might get something amazing) and yea a piano get like a mini but not too mini grand piano.

#23 Posted by Urmean (599 posts) -

Kazoo.
You cannot argue with this.

#24 Posted by Systech (4078 posts) -

I think we've already hit all the fun instruments that you can play without actually knowing how to play them.

#25 Posted by JacobForrest (307 posts) -

An Ocarina, of course.

Because playing a piano in a game would be exactly the same as playing a real piano.

Kind of, but they are supposed to replicate that "instrument" feel (although I can see where he is going with the piano thing -- too many keys, too).

My thoughts exactly.
Playing a real piano is already just pushing buttons and a footpedal.
It would play exactly the same as a video game peripheral.
A real guitar and a peripheral guitar are nothing alike.
#36 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) -

I'd love a piano/keyboard type peripheral. Things like banjos can easily be done on the guitars already out there.

"Fleshlight and Rabbit Hero". Make some sweet, sweet Single or mutiplayer music all night long!

Now I think about it, technically this could be the first game ever made that could play itself. Interesting.

Brilliant! Banjo-Kazooie: Musical Meltdown. WIth Mumbo on fiddle, of course

Chapman stick?
They're a bitch to play but make such awesome tunes.

#42 Posted by Zaerus (154 posts) -
@jonnyboy: =p you're wrong there mate, there's a contest going on right now of which some results are a Mario level generator & a mario ai, so it technicly keeps on generating and keeps on playing itself.
Till infinity and beyond if you'd let it...

I changed my mind...one of these.  Part keyboard - part DDR dancepad.

new peripheral for Stevie Wonder: Funk Band
#46 Edited by ApertureSilence (1157 posts) -

I personally would want Duduk Hero, and that same peripheral would also work well for  Didgeridoo Hero.

Duduk

Didgeridoo

I think Project Natal would be well suited for a theremin game.

Theremin

One last suggestion: The Blaster Beam ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaster_Beam)!

All the hip-hop games have lacked this central piece of equipment.  Then we can finally have the hip-hop game I've been dreaming of, ideally using whichever is the preferable turntable peripheral and a microphone.
#50 Posted by Toxin066 (3330 posts) -

Harmonica, so we can get some Blues Traveler up in our peripheral based rhythm games.
