PC first.  It was a DOS game where you made a dinosaur then went back in time and ran around protecting eggs and fighting other dinosaurs.  I have no idea what it was called.

First platform where I actually had more than 1 game would be the Sega Genesis.  First game I ever completed was Shinobi 3.

Odyssey 2. There was some other machine that had plastic sheets that went over the tv screen,  I don't remember what that one was.

Atari 2600 in my grandfather's basement. PONG.

I believe my first gaming was on a 1982 Baby Pacman machine... the one with pinball.

#72 Posted by NathHaw (2760 posts) -

My parents owned pool halls and restaurants that had a lot of arcade cabinets. The first one they bought in 1982 may have been one of my original games I played that didn't involve my being held up by somebody. I have memories of asking people to do that, so I could play.

The first home gaming system I owned was an Atari 800.

An old drive-in near where I grew up had one of those.

Some Pac-man console that, unsurprisingly, could only play the original Pac-man. Playstation for my first fully featured console.

NES. Dr. Mario, specifically.

My Dad's Acorn Atom, the first platform I owned though was the ZX Spectrum.

Nintendo 64 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat.

NES first. Then I tried an Atari 2600, but it felt like ancient technology. After that I got an SNES then Genesis/32X. Then after that it was a Saturn and N64. Then immediately after that we got our first home PC, which changed everything like the NES did, and that was my second platform to first play games on. After that it's all been a blur.

Damn, this thread makes me feel young. I begged and pleaded with my parents to get me an N64 when I was 5. I played Pokemon Snap for hours. Played it again the other day and was a little... disenchanted.

PC, hitting up Commander Keen and some target practice game I can't remember, and of course, Duke Nukem 3D.

#86 Posted by kalmis (1558 posts) -

It was Commodore 64 and still remember the first game: Kikstart. That is pretty much 25 years ago.

#87 Posted by SaturdayNightSpecials (2355 posts) -

A PC. Educational games, probably.

I feel like anyone who grew up in the 90s would say the same thing.

#88 Posted by Killroycantkill (1399 posts) -

NES. Super Nintendo was out but we got the NES for free from a friend who already bought a Super and didn't want his old one anymore.

#89 Posted by TheKeyboardDemon (824 posts) -

Some Binatone device, I think it had a set of paddles and 3 or 5 games including a tennis/Pong style game.

Started with a PC, though I don't really remember what games I was playing. My parents have pictures and stories of me using DOS to boot up games like a boss when I was really young.

The first console I remember playing specific games on was the SNES, back when it could be rented from places like Blockbuster over the weekend. I have random memories of playing Aladdin on it (which seems like a generic action-platformer, looking back.)

It was either a Sega Megadrive playing Sonic 2 with my brother or some old PC playing Command and Conquer

#96 Posted by Sayishere (1840 posts) -

Genesis was my first console

#97 Posted by SomeDeliCook (2272 posts) -

Something Atari related. Don't know which number, but I know my older brothers had one when I was born.

First games I remember playing are Spider-Man Cartoon Maker, Duke 3D, Doom, Outlaws, and Age of Empires, all on PC.

Outlaws was I think the first game I actually bought. Loved it.

#98 Posted by Emilbus (58 posts) -

My cousin's Famicom. First game was Super Mario Bros i believe.

#99 Posted by MonkeyKing1969 (2660 posts) -

It was one of those Pong/Skeet Shooting consoles from Tandy in 1977/78.

#100 Posted by ZagZagovich (757 posts) -

Dandy. An NES clone that was popular here. Mine came with a cartridge that had a bunch of games but the best one on it was Mappy. That police mouse sure could jump on trampolines I tell you that.
