Was just wondering what platform has the most of your favourite games of all time on them. I was just looking over a list of mine and was rather surprised by a few of the numbers. For me it ended up breaking down like this:

  • PC - 13
  • Gameboy Colour/ Advance - 5
  • Playstation One - 3
  • SNES - 1
  • Dreamcast - 1
  • Origional X-Box - 1

I guess what surprised me the most was how memorable my gameboy was for me. Thinking back I can't even begin to imagine how many dam hours I spent advancing wars in Advance Wars, catching/raising Pokemon in Red/Yellow/Silver/Diamond, commanding armies in Warlocked, magiing nations in Magi Nation, and the hundreds of hours I put into raising my dream team of Ninjas/Elementalists/Red Mage Clerics in FF: Tactics Advance. Those little devices shaped a ton of my childhood, and I couldn't imagine what it would have been like without them. Dam, I miss that sexy little purple hand held.

With 1100+ games, I don't think I could go there, but I will address the GBA. Man I played some games I loved on that console:

Breath of Fire I & II

Golden Sun

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Advance Wars I & II

Fire Emblem I & II

Pokemon Emerald & Ruby & Sapphire & Fire Red & Leaf Green

Final Fantasy I/II & IV & V

Harvest Moon Friends & More Friends

Zelda Minish Cap & Link To The Past

Mario Kart

Sword of Mana

Warioware Twisted & Inc Minigame

Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2004

That's 25 games I sunk a lot of love into right there.

I am pretty sure the DS has come close or passed it with all the JRPG loveliness it had. They both exceed the home consoles easily for me.

Looking at the games that I've listed as my "Favorite Videogames" it's spread pretty thin over a number of platforms:

NES - 4

DS - 2

GBA - 1

GBC - 1

PS1 -1

PS2 - 1

PS3 - 1

Gamecube - 1

Downloadable - 1

I don't actually know, but It's probably the PC, or possibly the PS2. Looking at my shelves of boxes, it's really PS2 dominant.

PC wins just because of how long it's been around and been my main gaming platform. I don't really think it can be compared to any one console. Maybe if you separate the games into time periods.

I'm not sure with the exact numbers, but the SNES has all my favourite RPGs. I own over 40 NDS games, but none made it into my favourites...

Now the PS3 is following up with games that are becoming my favourites, but for some reason, they will never reach the status of the old SNES games.

PC easily, with games being better looking, cheaper, and (for the most part) a better community you can't go wrong.

But PS3 has games I really really want to play.

I should be able to say the Wii, but their downloadable selection quite frankly sucks, so it'd have to be NES or SNES.

The PC feels like a cop-out answer since it has no end, unlike any other options. The majority of my favourite games have been on a PC though (including FF7, that's right) so I guess that'll be my answer.

SNES. Anyone who doesn't agree has no idea what they're talking about. Fucking Super Mario World! Come on! I played so much Donkey Kong Country I can remember every single level in great detail.

I think it's gotta be the PS2, even if it didn't sometimes have the "best" versions of the games (Resident Evil 4, specifically). For me, Jak & Daxter, the first God of War, Viewtiful Joe, the Katamari games, the first two Guitar Hero games, the Def Jam games, Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain, Ape Escape 2 & 3, Tony Hawk 3 & 4...god damn, the PS2 was awesome.

This, pretty much. Just add Persona 3, MGS3 and Vice City and you'd have a perfect list.

Well, I have 22 games on my Favorites list. The problem is several of them are multiplatform. I'm not sure if I should count those for each platform or for those that I experienced them. What about those games where I own them on several systems? I guess I'll count each version I have or have had.

  1. PC games - 11
  2. Xbox 360 games - 4
  3. PS3 games - 2
  4. DS games - 1
  5. Xbox games - 4
  6. PS2 games - 2
  7. Sega Genesis - 1
  8. Atari ST - 1
  9. Atari 2600 - 2
  10. Arcade (not owned but played a lot) - 1

That comes out to 29 total meaning 7 games have appeared on multiple platforms. I'm not surprised by the results, since I was primarily a PC gamer for the latter half of the 90's and early part of the 2000's. I switched to consoles for a bit then and if I calculated the list by picking the platform I played the game on first, 360 would win because of 3 Bethesda games and a Bioware title, however I've racked up more hours on their PC versions, so I think it's best to include both.

I've enjoyed games on less represented platforms such are the PS2 and PS3, but this is just about my tallied favorites. I definitely use my PS3 more than my 360 these days and have for a year or two now.

Multiplatform games are divided by where I enjoyed them first. I've bought Batman: AA and Borderlands twice on different platforms.

PC 12

PS2 3

GBA 2

N64 1

X360 6

XBLA 2

SNES 2

The PS2 by far
MGS 3: Subsistence
Ratchet and Clank: 1-3
Jak and Daxter 1-3
Shadow Hearts 2 and 3
Final Fantasy 10-2 and 12
Okami
God Hand
Bully
GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and 4
Devil May Cry 1 and 3
Odin Sphere
God of War 1 and 2
Kingdom Hearts 2
NBA Street 2
WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain
Persona 3 and 4
The Warriors
Sly Cooper 1 and 2
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Silent Hill 2 and 3
SSX 3 and Tricky
Onimusha 3
I am sure I missed a few and excluded Viewitiful Joe and RE4 because they started out as Gamecube exclusives

I think the 360 comes in second and the Gameboy comes in third.

@PenguinDust:When it comes to multiplatform games I put them on the platform I had the most time on or was the most memorable. For example, the one on my list was KOTOR. I played it on the PC and prefer it there, but the first time I played it was when I bought my original X-Box and it came as a pack in. What made it so memorable for me was at that time I wasn't too big into Star Wars and thought it was just this dumb throw away game that I had never heard of, and when I popped it in my mind was blown. Cut to now and I have literally played that game from start to finish about 20-30 times easily.
