For me I would probably cut back or only have one system seeing all games now are mostly on the same platform.
What would you think if games cost $70 for next-generation...
"welcome to Australia.Lucky for Ebay!
where new next gen games sell for $90 - $120
Note = exchange rate is more or less the same.
"
i believe disks will be out in maybe the next gen or the next next gen. I mean look at the xbox originals whole game downloads.
"Downloadable games would be the wave of the future but many people still want the hard disk. Will the price drop though if they do go digital distribution?"No, I don't think it will go down in price at all. Right now, as far as I know, the price of a physical copy of a game is the same as it is as a download. The physical copy may have something bundled with it to raise the price, but I believe the copy of the game itself is still the same price. (Example: Warhawk comes with a bluetooth headset, which cost about $20 and the Warhawk as a download is $40, so it's about the same price for the game itself.)
That's just my opinion though. It would make sense if it was cheaper, as developers wouldn't have to be purchasing discs, cases or manuals.
I'd like to say I wouldn't buy them anymore, but then I would be lying. In reality I would be pissed-the-hell-off and I would buy less games each year, but I still would buy games.
I think used games and "deals" are getting better and better. I don't buy a new game unless I can get some kind of deal on it or trade some old stuff for a new game. The only time I buy a game is if I have some kind of online coupon or I can get it used at a cheap price. I can see paying 60 bucks now for a good game but a lot of these games out at 60 bucks are crap. So i'd do my best to not spend 70 bucks on a game unless I want it day one. Though i'd rather buy gas then play the next GTA game.
It's kinda funny. I kinda see it as how gas prices are right now. The higher they go the more people will complain and slowly back off until there is an alternative. Personally I don't like renting because if I'm gonna play something I would rather put that money towards the game so I can play it more than once.
For me personally I would probably stop buying 6 games a year and really go down to about 4. I think that its unfortunate the cost of games is getting really high because of the amount of staff that is needed but I wouldn't drop my support of the industry. Not by a long shot. I would probably look for more bargain or shorter titles such as portal on the pc or some of those occasionial $40 games or probably( by the time new games are $70)
i would just stick with this generation of gaming. whatever comes next will probably just be the same crap with better graphics.
"i would just stick with this generation of gaming. whatever comes next will probably just be the same crap with better graphics. So true, I was not exactly the first one to get a 360. But when Microsoft drop the Xbox so fast I kinda had to. But there are certain games that make you buy a system, like MGS4.
"
I'd say it depends on the longevity of the game. Yeah it's starting to cost millions of dollars just to make a game. They're trying to make them more like Hollywood movies. They want good voice actors so that adds to production costs too. I think it's going to come down to doing some math (ha, I used to be a high school math teacher). It's going to come down to dividing the cost by the hours of gameplay.
But maybe I'm just getting cheap. I find it hard to pay $60 for a game (even though I had no problem buying Rock Band).
People said the same thing when they heard games were going to $60. I saw many forumites say "I'll cut back," or "I'll never pay that much for a game".
The truth is, games have been getting cheaper and cheaper. Remember how much N64 games used to cost? Consider inflation, and the fact that games have much more technology than they did 10 years ago. Games are a steal at $60, and several years into the launch of the next gen they will be worth $70.
