Post your suggestions for the next game vinny and dave should play and make a case for it. Is it ennough random, ass and PC to make the cut?
What's next for the random ass pc game feature
X-Com: UFO Defense (or as it's known in the greater part of the world; UFO: Enemy Unknown)
- Random: Not really, but a remake is released this year.
- Ass: Absolutely not.
- PC: Indeed it is.
I'm gonna start with Omikron: The Nomad Soul. More recent than the other games they've done, it is still pretty obscur and probably the best adventure/open world/fps/fighting game of all time. Furthermore, it's super sci-fi french and who dosen't love that. Did I also mention that the premis is BANANAS. See for yourself:
They should do a day of smaller games like megarace and some of the old epic (mega) games like jill of the jungle and jazz jackrabbit or xargon if they want to go a bit more obscure

This. Followed immediately by renaming all of the generic soldier dudes.

I wouldn't recommend it, at least without a save further along. The beginning can be slow, especially if you have no idea what the hell you're doing (or even what you're supposed to do).

Yeah, tried the 3rd one. Forget dark souls, X-Com games are HARD
Definitely Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday. Half of the fun would be watching them try to get it running.
Just because they're two of my favorite games of all time
Thief II: The Metal Age. Do it.
Omikron is a great suggestion. I honestly forgot about it until Dave mentioned it the other day. Man, I wanted to play that game so bad when it came out but I never got the chance. Would love to see that if its even possible (when it came out I heard the game was buggy, not sure how well it would run on newer systems if at all).
I can come up with random, out of left field, FMV awesomeness. But the stuff I come up with will be so obscure no one will care.
Commander Blood for instance (which one day I have to get around to doing the wiki page for cus it exists but it is blank) was a really weird sci fi FMV crazy game. Hard to figure out what to do, and I never passed it but man I loved that game. They probably couldn't find it anywhere, I don't know. I've not seen it on places like GoG so its technically one of the rarest games I own.
There was also mega race, which had crazy FMV for the host or whatever. Its basically just a racing game though. It actually has a wiki page. Seems like anything Mindscape made, really, is obscure now come to think of it. Savage Warriors doesnt have a page at all, like the game doesnt even exist. To be fair, though, its a really bad fighting game. I might have to get it on the wiki.... hmmm
Anywho... ya Omikron would be cool if they have it mainly cus i never got to play that but I really wanted to.

Oh yes ... after I bought them in the steam sale last week I tried Enemy Unknown and was just ... confused. NO introduction at all. I guess that's what the manual was for back then :)
I managed to launch an interceptor eventually but failed to catch the UFO and never got to the part where you control dudes^^ You definitely need some kind of rough guide if you have never played that game before or have forgotten everything.

One essential thing you forgot to mention: David Bowie is in the fucking game (as a (or the?) central character)! I remember reading in magazines about this but I think my PC back then couldn't run it and I didn't have money anyway :D
That would be something I'd love seeing here.
I'd suggesting saving X-Com either until right before the new FPS and/or remake come out or doing a regular "looking back" style quick look like they did with Deus Ex last year before Human Revolution came out.
I must recomend Giants: Citizen Kabuto wich was actually a great game. I wonder if it still holds up?

Ohmygod yes.
They mentioned The 7th Guest already. I hope they do it.
I've got my fingers crossed for Twinsen's Odyssey

Thief and Thief II are great stealth games from the days when stealth games were cool because of how punishing they were. They'd make for great entertainment as Dave and Vinny constantly die, quickload, get caught, quicksave, murder someone, quicksave their way through the first level of either game, both of which do a great job of showcasing why they were great. It's a pity they aren't on any sort of download service, not to mention the whole "Dark Engine games have trouble running on modern systems" thing. The third one is on steam, for what that's worth.

For as much excoriation that befalls Thief 3, I have to admit that I don't dislike the game. I actually kind of enjoyed the pseudo-open world and the fact that you had to travel to your mission location. I mean, the level design was clearly diluted and made painfully simple, but it did have the Shalebridge Cradle level. And hey, as far as I can remember, they didn't ruin Garrett's endearing cynicism. All I can really be sure of is the fact that I'm looking forward to extinguishing some torches with water arrows and shooting some rope arrows into beams when Thief 4 finally arrives.
What's so random about suddelny demanding(that might be a little harsh) games to be played?
Let's just make a list, see what people vote for. put the top five games in a poll and then have them pick the one that gets most votes in that final poll.
Well call it, Ass PC Games

I found the 7th guest along with the 11th hour in a box in my parents basement.....from what I played it would make an entertaining episode.
The Daedalus Encounter with Tia Carre.

Sanitarium, Phantasmagoria 2, Ultima Online Private Server, Oregan Trail, Giants, Thief, Alone in the Dark.
I think there'd be legal issues with UO private servers being shown on GB. EA still runs UO, I think. Oregon Trail is on iOS and other platforms, and its pretty close to the original.
Giants Citizen Cabuto? That'd a pretty cool game.
I've not seen it up yet for the next round, but I liked the idea before of just kinda sticking your hand into a bin filled with games and then grab one without looking. That seems more random to me, I dunno.@ZeForgotten said:

True, just doesn't seem random enough to me. But so far some great times have been had with their picks, that's for sure@ZeForgotten said:

I think that the problem is that if you really go random you're going to pick out a lot of games which require some work to get up and running. It's a little more reliable if they stick to GOG or Dosbox or games available on Steam.
The archived videos just say Random PC Game so I think that is the name.By the way, why does everyone add the word ass to the name of the feature? Was it ever called that?
I just went with it because of this thread and because they are some random ass games.
I think the games that most need an episode are 7th Guest, Quest for Glory (2 or 4), and Rebel Assault 2.
My personal wish would be the Interactive Girls Club games, but (a) they would never be able to find them (b) there is porn, in between the bits where it's hilarious (which is not to say the porn isn't hilarious too).

If Dave has it on disc, Harvester could be a good pick. Bad FMV, bad voicework, gay firemen - everything you'd want from a mid-90s PC game.
+1
just learned about this game today and after watching some youtubes, my first reaction was to nominate it for RPCG. it's like Phantasmagoria x100.
