Sorry for the weird topic title. Anyways, just wondering. As for me, it may be either Valve or Bungie. Those are less than 20 minutes away from where I live, but there are other game companies around here as well, I just can't think of them. So what headquarters are closest to your home? Have you ever visited them, or at least drove, or walked by them? Tell you the truth, I don't know if I've ever seen one of the buildings. I go to Bellevue, WA every three weeks, and I'm not sure if it's right in front of me or not. I just think it's neat to have game companies so close to home, yet I think little about it.

I don't really know.  Probably one of the New York-based developers.

Valve, Nintendo HQ, Bungie, Microsoft.  I'm in Olympia so those are all relatively close, I'm sure there are more but those are the only companies I know about in Washington.

Both Irrational and Harmonix are not far from where I live.

#14 Posted by Jolt92 (1553 posts) -

Starbreeze is just around the corner, pretty much.

#15 Posted by ReyGitano (2467 posts) -

I don't know. I live in Berkeley so Whiskey Media is nearby, though it's not actually a game company.

#16 Posted by Meltac (2002 posts) -

IO Interactive is around 1 hour away from me.

Never been to one, but Bioware Austin is about 7 hours away.

#20 Posted by Rockanomics (1150 posts) -

Irrational would have to be it I think, about half an hour-ish.

#21 Posted by JJWeatherman (14558 posts) -

I don't know of any Oregon-based devs. :/

BUT... the Nike World Headquarters is about 15 minutes away from my house, so that's pretty cool.

  1. Eidos Montreal [19 min. away]
  2. Behaviour Interactive [19 min. away]
  3. Ubisoft Montreal [24 min. away]
Not sure exactly where EA and Bioware are, but I'm assuming they'd be close as well.

@BUCK3TM4N: Really? Edmonds huh? In 09 I moved out of Shoreline and sometimes go back there, so I often end up in Edmonds as well. I'm on the other side of Lake WA now though, literally on the edge of Bothell, going into Woodinville.

Are any studious in Austin or Dallas, Texas? If so, it would be those.

#25 Posted by RobotHamster (4172 posts) -

I'm like 10, 15 minutes from Tiburon, if I get a job offer from them then great, but it's not one of my top companies to go work at.

#26 Posted by NTM (7411 posts) -
@PeasantAbuse: Yeah, I guess Microsoft and Nintendo count. OH! And Suckerpunch is here too! I forgot about them. And ArenaNet, though I haven't played any of their games (Guild Wars).
#27 Posted by jewunit (1062 posts) -

Majesco Entertainment is about an hour and a half away in Edison, New Jersey.  I believe there is a shovelware game developer in Sewell, NJ, but I couldn't find enough information to confirm it.

Petroglyph I guess? they make RTS's so I don't really care

I'm not sure there's a font for what I'd type as a response.

Cool, I didn't know Sucker Punch was here.  Just found this.

Not sure exactly where EA and Bioware are, but I'm assuming they'd be close as well.

EA/Bioware share the same offices, owned by EA, in Ville Marie, downtown.

You are also close to THQ, which is near Old Port.

Warner Brothers is further out but still in Montreal.

Many others including Funcom, Beenox, Strategy First, Gameloft...

#34 Posted by coryrx8 (175 posts) -

I'm not sure which is closer, but I'm extremely close to Gearbox and id Software. I think that id is a little closer.

#35 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19355 posts) -
@warxsnake: Thanks for the info. Montreal really is a bolstering area for game development.

I live in NC, so Epic I guess.  I think it's around 4 hours away.

#41 Posted by bassman2112 (840 posts) -

When I lived in Edmonton, about 10 minutes away - Bioware.

Now it's about 1.5 hours away (I live in Red Deer)

Apparently, some guy created a company called Basilisk Games in Indianapolis.  He, along with a few contracted parties, have made two games in an RPG series called Eschalon.  It's not much, but it's something.

P.S.-  I found another developer in New Jersey.  Saber Interactive, the folks involved with Timeshift and the Halo remake, has its American office in Millburn, New Jersey.

@JJWeatherman: The only Oregon based company I know of (that really matters) is Sony Bend. The guys who make the Syphon Filter games for PSP, and then some. Good company.
#46 Posted by Seedofpower (3932 posts) -

Tiburon, I guess. The only Florida developer I know of but I doubt they are stationed here in Tampa.

#47 Posted by JasonR86 (9715 posts) -

Valve probably.

Oh, nice! I've been to Bend twice before. Nice place.

Yay. Learning things.
