What game did you miss out in 2011 that you went back to and played in 2012.

I went back and played Saints Row the Third. WINNER!!!

#2 Posted by Ramone (2976 posts) -

Same, I really wish I'd played it in 2011 as well because it definitely would have got into my top 3 for that year.

Portal 2 by far. I wrote extensively about it here.

Driver San Fransisco, only because I play most games when they release, but also because that game is incredible. I could not believe I passed on one of the best driving games of this generation at the time.

Gears 3

It has to be something I missed out on?

Aw man.

Fuck it, DARK SOULS FOR 2011 GAME OF 2012!

#9 Edited by Zeik (2776 posts) -

999 probably, since I just played that a few weeks ago.

There might be something else, but I can't remember everything that came out in 2011 that I played this year.

Edit: Yes, I know it came out in 2010.

Understandable enough.Dark Souls is fucking awesome.

Dark Souls or Skyrim because I'm still playing them.

Dark Souls.

Saints Row, waited for a really good sale because I hated every GTA and RDR, but felt a responsibility to experience it as a gamer. It was amazing and definitely would have made it on my 2011 top 10 list.

Right now it would be Battlefield 3.

I only just started playing Total War: Shogun 2 so that might take the crown. I may or may not be getting the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection soon or maybe just play Peace Walker on my PSP so there's additional considerations to be had for those games.

Deus Ex: HR. Thoroughly enjoyed it and even bought some DLC.

@TheManWithNoPlan: Hell yeah it is! Oh and I actually tried to find something from 2011 I played this year, but couldn't. Unless some more SR3 co-op counts...

Gears of War 3.

Probably Saint's Row: The Third. That game is crazy fun and I love it.

The Old Republic. Been playing that quite a lot, especially since it went F2P.

Love the class stories, especially the Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent.

Trackmania 2. I picked it up about November and played it off-and-on throughout June putting in about 30-40 hours into it, which isn't bad since the way I played that game is to play 3-4 tracks (about 20 minutes) then do something else. However like Jeff has mentioned Shootmania fucked everything up including the GB server, so once that went to hell I mostly stopped playing.

#25 Posted by RandomInternetUser (6789 posts) -

BF3 or Dark Souls.

#26 Posted by SJSchmidt93 (4899 posts) -

Binding of Isaac. I put in about 190 hours into it and got all but one achievement.

#27 Posted by ImmortalSaiyan (4702 posts) -

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. I played the original last year and never got into it. This year I started watching more streams and understanding the game better and now it's one of my favorites to watch. I like playing as well but I still suck.

Saints Row the Third followed by Dark Souls.

#29 Posted by Ghostiet (5341 posts) -

The Binding of Isaac. It added boatloads of content to my favorite game of 2011.

#30 Posted by KaneRobot (1854 posts) -

Mortal Kombat, with Saint's Row 3 right behind it.

I didn't miss out, but Dark Souls.

#32 Posted by HistoryInRust (6407 posts) -

Skyrim. Although Driver: San Francisco is my runner up.

#33 Posted by Turtlefuzz (257 posts) -

For me it would be The Witcher 2. Didn't have a PC to play it last year, so I opted for this year's 360 port. I was really blown away by the story, and even though I'm sure it is graphically inferior to its PC counterpart, I thought it looked phenomenal. It also played really well, loved the combat and the difficulty. Really top-notch game, if you haven't played it, it's probably pretty cheap and you should check it out fo sho.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because the Vita version is a fantastic travelling companion, despite it being weird switching between Vita controls and arcade stick.

I played the hell out of that game on PS3 & 360 this year and last year too.

My mind is blown at how good it looks on Vita, it actually looks better than the PS3 version in a way - it doesn't have as much movement in the backgrounds but the smaller screen makes it look like there's far less jaggies.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Or, I guess, the Shadow of the Colossus HD port if that counts (and since it was my first time playing it, I think it does).

Following those two, Saints Row: The Third, probably.

The best 2011 that I've played this year is Dark Souls, though I'm playing the PTDE on PC. If that counts, that's my 2012's 2011 GOTY.

999 was released on 2010 in North America, not 2011.

I guess that just shows how much I actually keep track of these things.

But I did remember I played Skyward Sword very early in the year, so that.

#38 Posted by CrazyRah (17 posts) -

It's probably the Witcher 2

Tropico 4

#40 Posted by Baillie (4285 posts) -

Battlefield 3.

I think seeing how everyone LOVES Saints Row 3 makes me hate it even more than I already did. The game is so bad. Honestly the unfunniest game I've ever played.

#41 Edited by jakob187 (21763 posts) -

League of Legends.

The game really opened up in Season 2. Not only did the professional scene blow up, but the game expanded massively across the world. The champion releases were all around good, even if there were a lot of melee bruisers that swept house pretty hard. Nonetheless, the whole thing overall was just a much better game than what Season 1 presented to us. Season 3 so far has been the best, as the item changes and two new champs in this season have already shown a marked improvement on Riot's capability to keep their game fresh and interesting while also mixing it up well.

I played Saints Row 3 this year, so that? I can't think of anything else that I missed last year and played this year off top of my head right now.

A lot of the fun was ruined by Giant Bomb though.
