What game did you miss out in 2011 that you went back to and played in 2012.
I went back and played Saints Row the Third. WINNER!!!
Right now it would be Battlefield 3.
I only just started playing Total War: Shogun 2 so that might take the crown. I may or may not be getting the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection soon or maybe just play Peace Walker on my PSP so there's additional considerations to be had for those games.
Trackmania 2. I picked it up about November and played it off-and-on throughout June putting in about 30-40 hours into it, which isn't bad since the way I played that game is to play 3-4 tracks (about 20 minutes) then do something else. However like Jeff has mentioned Shootmania fucked everything up including the GB server, so once that went to hell I mostly stopped playing.
For me it would be The Witcher 2. Didn't have a PC to play it last year, so I opted for this year's 360 port. I was really blown away by the story, and even though I'm sure it is graphically inferior to its PC counterpart, I thought it looked phenomenal. It also played really well, loved the combat and the difficulty. Really top-notch game, if you haven't played it, it's probably pretty cheap and you should check it out fo sho.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because the Vita version is a fantastic travelling companion, despite it being weird switching between Vita controls and arcade stick.
I played the hell out of that game on PS3 & 360 this year and last year too.
My mind is blown at how good it looks on Vita, it actually looks better than the PS3 version in a way - it doesn't have as much movement in the backgrounds but the smaller screen makes it look like there's far less jaggies.
The best 2011 that I've played this year is Dark Souls, though I'm playing the PTDE on PC. If that counts, that's my 2012's 2011 GOTY.
999 probably, since I just played that a few weeks ago.
There might be something else, but I can't remember everything that came out in 2011 that I played this year.
999 was released on 2010 in North America, not 2011.
League of Legends.
The game really opened up in Season 2. Not only did the professional scene blow up, but the game expanded massively across the world. The champion releases were all around good, even if there were a lot of melee bruisers that swept house pretty hard. Nonetheless, the whole thing overall was just a much better game than what Season 1 presented to us. Season 3 so far has been the best, as the item changes and two new champs in this season have already shown a marked improvement on Riot's capability to keep their game fresh and interesting while also mixing it up well.
