What's your favourite zombie game?

It has to have zombies in it. No necromorphs, or ganados, majini, ustanaks, j'avos, infected... just plain shambling corpses. They can drag their feet in the ground or run, but they have to be zombies! I'm not distinguishing the causes that make them what they are, just how they are characterized and behave. They have to look like and behave, like zombies. And the game has to have an emphasis on... zombies.

Left 4 Dead 1

Quake 1 I think. That was the first time I was impressed by how they had implemented zombies, as the enemies that threw their own organs at you and could only be killed by explosive weapons.

I haven't played the early 90's game Zombi, but it seems kinda intriguing too, like a serious take on the Dead Rising idea (of course, that's just the "survivors in a mall" scenario from Dawn of the Dead).

Does Blood count? If so, that. If not, either L4D2 or Dead Rising.

Red dead redemption zombie DLC. Liked how you had to put the bullets in the head to put em down, and plowing them with that fire horse made their heads explode created some mindless fun just going back and forth in a ravine.

Either Dead Rising 2 or MadWorld. They both revolve around the concept of killing zombies in the dumbest and funniest ways possible.

Mine is Resident Evil 0. Because it's one of the prettiest zombie games, has one of the most believable encarnation of them, and the game itself is great.

There are zombies in the game. They are induced by leeches, but they are rotting and shambling zombies. I'm not distinguishing the causes that make them what they are, just how they are characterized and behave.

The Walking Dead Season 1. The problem with zombies for me is that from a strict gameplay perspective, a shambling mass of slow moving melee enemies aren't super fun to fight (I realise there are exceptions, but I'm speaking by and large).

So TWD works because there isn't actually that much gameplay, just a really great story and one of my favorite protagonists of all time

Probably an oldie from the original XBox days, Hunter The Reckoning. I don't like zombie fiction or games all that much, but I enjoyed that game. It had a giant mutant zombie teddy bear.

Contagion, I much prefer it to L4D in every possible way. It's the game I imagined when first hearing about L4D on the PC Gamer podcast.

My favourite game that explicitly uses the word 'zombies' would probably be Plants vs. Zombies.

If you consider them as zombies, still they a type of monster, not a game.

I don't have a favorite zombie game, since L4D/2 and RE4 both have infected. Well, I guess The Walking Dead.

Well, they're in Spelunky, and Spelunky is great :D

The Walking dead Season 1 and 2.

Depends. They're good at different things.
Left 4 Dead 2 has the best multiplayer.
Walking Dead has the best writing.
Dead Rising is the silliest.
State of Decay is the best survival game.
Resident Evil REmake is the best "survival horror".
Dead Island has the best city gone to hell.
Half-Life zombies have the best sounds when they're on fire.
Red Dead had the best weapons. (Sue me, I like old west firearms)

If you make me pick one of these... REmake. It's the best of the old school of Resident Evil games.

I'm guessing he wants to nominate Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare in North Point. They are closer to ghosts than zombies though.

I dunno, it depends. ''Zombie game'' is an awfully broad term. Dead Rising 2 is likely the most fun I've had with killing zombies.

B.O.W.s are designed and (usually) mass-produced. Stuff like the Hunters for example, whereas zombies are just... zombies. They're technically an accidental byproduct in fact as the ultimate goal for the T-Virus was to create shit like the Tyrants.

I'm not linking the above video as evidence or anything btw, I just think that as many people as possible need to witness Wesker in a state where he sounds like he's about to cry after Chris' chortling of his little school project.

Either Telltale's Walking Dead or State of Decay.

(wanted to say RE4, but OK) I really like The Walking Dead, but I will go with Dead Rising as my favorite zombie game.

State of Decay and Dead Island. And while I get why they have them, I still don't really like any 'special' kind of zombie. Left 4 Dead is only an exception due to the fact that the normal things are infected sprinters.

Dead Rising 2 is half on here, because I never liked the whole 'zombies become magically stronger at night' thing.

The Telltale Walking Dead games are probably the best zombie games I have played, but my favourite is Undead Nightmare. So much wacky fun.

I guess it's either Re 2 or Half Life 1 (I'd classify the people taken over by head crabs as zombies)

Trying to avoid the obvious Bio Hazard titles I'd go with the zombies from The Walking Dead but that's only because it's a great story telling game.

As for the most entertaining excluding gameplay zombies then you can't get much better than Onechanbara on the 360.

I don't know about my favorite, but Atom Zombie Smasher is a fun little strategy game that (I imagine) got overlooked by a lot of people.

Dead island i think, purely for the satisfaction of popping their melons with stomp. That shit was awesome!

The only reason I don't completely hate zombies is because they have given us a lot of video games and movies with a apocalyptic scenario. Besides being amazing that's one of the reasons I love the first Walking Dead game so much. The game focuses on the human story instead of stupid zombies all the time.
