MW2 has some bad looking textures but the whole game looks fantastic.  
Bad Company 2 looks great, but i'd say they're somewhat on the same level. 

MW2, maxed on the PC, looks good, but BFBC2 looks better, maybe because it doesn't look as bland I guess.  They both look great though.

I'll need to play Bad Company 2 first before I make a judgment on its visuals. From videos I have seen though, it certainly doesn't look bad. Modern Warfare 2 is no slouch itself, either.

Modern Warefare sounds like one epic game. I'm imaging it as a game where the player sets up a stand in the time of the Roman Empire, and tries to make the biggest profit selling wares whilst sabotaging neighbouring Stalls, and taking part in generally underhanded tactics.

Wait what? Bad Company 2 isn't even out. How can we answer this. By looking at videos? They don't really show much.

The guns in MW2 look better, but otherwise BFBC2 for me. 
But remember: it's not out yet, so give it the benefit of the doubt.

Remake this once BF:BC2 is actually out. All we have seen of that game is that Desert map which looks great..but hey nothing ground breaking.

As much as I hate both games I have played them both with a friend and I have to say that MW2 is freakin sweet looking

In terms of visual effects and features Bad company 2 is the better looking game, Modern Warfare 2 is on the same engine as CoD4 and CoD5, it's getting somewhat dated and it shows, Bad company 2 on the other hand seems to handle bigger resolutions and AA / AF better.

Why do you care? In ten year's cartoony games like TF2 and Borderlands will still look good, whilst the realistic games of today will look like shit tomorrow. None of this changes how much fun will drawn from playing them instead of LOOKING AT THEM.
