i do, everytime i play lion king on the game boy i feel like slowly whispering to myself "it will al be okay.'
Who likes old games that bring back memories
I just played The Secret of Monkey Island again, even though I knew what to do to finish the game (its amazing how much comes back to you) and there was really no challenge at all to it, the sense of nostalgia and a reminder of how awesome that game is was more than worth the hours it took to get through it again. I just stocked up on a whole bunch of old DOS games that I'm looking forward to getting through again or even for the first time. Just cause modern point and clicks are dead doesnt mean I cant find some awesome old ones
Who doesn't? But sadly after the nostalgia wares off I always notice how terrible those games play/look
Lieutenant nailed it. Graphics have come so far that it's sometimes a shock when you first go back to a game you once loved. This happens to me whenever I go back to an old PlayStation title; even great ones like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fanstasy VII, and Metal Gear Solid are not exempt from the ravages of time.
I do., I love it, I play many games that evoke old memories. I am lover what some would call retro games, but to me that are simply great games.
I played Super Mario Land on my projector via the Gameboy Player on Gamecube the other day. All the memories came flooding back. Boy was that game awesome.
One memory that came to mind when playing it was how I played this joke on everyone at school. There's one level in the game where there's a invisible platform that lets you bypass enemies and gives you few coins. I think it's the level after the Egyptian themed level?. Well anyway, I told everyone who played that they had to pause the game and shout "WALK OF FAITH!" into the Gameboy's mono speaker (lol), and then un-pausing the game and jumping onto what seemed like nothing. Everyone at school fell for it all the time :D
Sure. I love going back to my old games.
Sometimes though, the game ain't so great. But when it is... great!
Yep. I think the only games that I could go back to for nostalgia though are 2D games. 3D ones with muddy ass textures and horrible models (in todays standards) just kind of kill the nostalgia factor.
not really. you pretty much play it and then realize it doesnt hold up
remakes are fine however.
cold storage ftw!
(and ff6 remake please!)
for example, my favorite game, FF7. Went back to play it, played for about 10 minutes and then put it back in its case before I changed my mind about the game.
"Punch-Out. Still freaking amazing to this very day"
I recently had friends over that had never played that game back in the day, let alone heard of it. They all found it enthralling and said it was one of the most fun and addictive games ever.
"Ahh... Transport Tycoon... oh the memories."
dude...YES!
I managed to get that from googling it
It still freaking holds up
I have sunk so many hours into it since getting it again
Applause to your old skool taste
I regularly play old games, and not necessarily because of nostalgia, though I do play old games over again, but also because there are so many good games that I've missed, graphics whores be damned. I don't feel any "shock" playing a playstation or NES game, that's kinda silly. A good game is a good game.
Every now and again, I whip out my N64 and start playing The Ocarina of Time, or Starfox 64, or Super Mario 64 and all the other great titles.
Ahh the memories :D
