Why didn't they ever make a Twin Peaks videogame?
I imagine licensing issues, because the ownership of the rights to Twin Peaks is a total mess. Deadly Premonition was going to be very close to Twin Peaks the game but they decided against including some of the homages. That said, Alan Wake and Deadly Premonition are pretty close to a Twin Peaks experience.
Edit: DP and TP were never affiliated.
The owners of the Twin Peaks license respect it too much to have it raped and gutted by a team of videogame developers?
...I don't think the name carries enough mass appeal to cover costs.
I think a more serious problem is you'd have to spend money on the license for little to no discernible benefit, especially when you could just say your game is "like Twin Peaks" or inspired by it and leverage it for marketing purposes without spending anything. The TV show is too far gone in cultural history for it to be worth it. A David Lynch-inspired adventure game would be awesome though.
It was like 1992 and It involved rape and murder, ignoring that it would probably be terrible, it wouldn't have fit in that well on the Snes. They could do it today, but what's the point of licensing something no one really cares about anymore? So you get stuff like Deadly Premonition.
In an old issue of Nintendo Power, in the Pak Watch (I think that was what it was called) section in the back of the magazine, there was a blurb about a Twin Peaks game. It was coming from LJN. Since everything that LJN touches is horrible, it's probably a good thing that it didn't materialize.
Wait a minute, what am I saying?!?!

Up until about 2-3 years ago the rights to Twin Peaks was a complete fucking mess. Now I think Paramount owns the whole things. I would not be surprised at all if we see a remake series or movie within the next 5 years since there seems to be a new interest in the property lately.
EDIT: I am so glad that my 300 post was about Twin Peaks.
Nicely done.EDIT: I am so glad the my 300 post was about Twin Peaks. "
...and the rest of post is points well made as well.
This has "The Avengers" potential written all over it. Maybe not famous enough to market a videogame behind, but famous enough to market a movie and a game based on that movie.
Alan Wake and Deadly Premonition are basically twin peaks in disguise. But Deadly Premonition is a lot campier.

Oh God I haven't even seen that, I'm kind of glad I never got around to it." @XII_Sniper said:

To be honest I'd be content with Twin Peaks staying where it is. I'm glad I watched it, but I'd be happy enough if it was just done. Sometimes that's the best thing for a game/movie.
