Maybe you could... read some of those reviews that are praising it? I bet they would explain why it's such a highly rated game.
Why is 'Persona: The Golden' such a highly rated game?

It's just a near-perfect blend of gameplay, characters and story. You gotta play it to really understand. It's a dense game.

And yeah. Reviews are helpful if you don't know why it's good.
Whaaaaaaat!? I never bothered with that stupid cat before.
There are different endings and lots of stuff you can not do in the first playthough not to mention new game plus that lets you carry over a ton of stuff. Again go read reviews or watch the endurance run of Persona 4. Then throw in lots of extra cool stuff.@MariachiMacabre: What about replay value, is there different endings or is it the same each time?
--> Persona 4 Golden appears to be extremely popular.
--> You remember that Persona 4 for the PS2 was also very well received.
--> You wonder if maybe these two things could be connected...
--> You lack the Knowledge capable of figuring out this riddle.
--> You should go to bed...
I think its because not many reviewers at the time checked it out on the PS2 and it kind of flew under the radar. After the swell of buzz of how good it was people finally now have a chance to play it on a current gen system.

THAT'S RIGHT MOTHERFUCKER.
DAH NAH NAH NAH, NEH, NAH NEH NAH.
Persona 4 is a more approachable JRPG though it starts a bit slow. Final Fantasy is a great franchise but in terms of sheer playability Persona 4 is ahead so it would not be fair to compare the two even if they are both the same genre. If you have a Vita might as well give Persona 4 Golden a shot given that there isn't much games on the library yet.
Really? It's says it's golden right on the cover. Also, it's a fucking great game. Sometimes trying something new out and giving it a chance pays off.
Watch some of the Endurance Run. If you like what you see, try it. If not, move on. Asking a community who formed in large part around a series of videos based on the game is asking an incredibly loaded question.

This made my night.
Because its the definitive version of one of the best JRPG of the previous generation, and one of the most beloved features of this community.
Seriously, this site has the biggest quick look for that game. Watch a couple episodes of the endurance run and see if you like what you see.
Because other than maybe Final Fantasy VI or Chrono Trigger, I feel comfortable definitively calling it the best JRPG of all time. It's an absolute miracle of game design. It's the kind of game people will be taking things from for the next ten years. Also, in a lot of ways, it actually is more like Shenmue than a Final Fantasy game, so you should double-play it.

Who?
Yu Tunoku, it's Charlie's dad, Golden is actually a prequel leading up to why he had to abandon his son with his uncle.
and to the OP: if you have a Vita and haven't gotten this game yet then why do you even have a Vita?
I wonder where I could find some useful information about a game on a site like this one? Bah, only dreams that I am speaking about.

I always thought of the narration as some sort of demon who's speaking to the MC, always suggesting things for you to do.

It's like having Atlas from Bioshock as your inner voice.

The game itself is 50-70 hours. Do you really care about that right now?
I'm over 110 hours into it and haven't even gotten to Marie's dungeon. I think I spent too much time fusing personas.
Also, screw that last fox quest!
well i dunno maybe its a good game?
i watched the endurance run for normal persona 4. seemed neat enough. though i cant stand JRPGs (hell i skipped most of the grinding episodes).
plus theres the fact they did the ER for it, so everyone jumps on the bandwagon and says they loved it before it was cool to love it.
so basically. hipsters. :o
