why the shitty shit does gamespot put spoilers in their reviews!?
the majority of the people watching them are people who havent played it and want to see it in action to make a decision. putting spoilers in them is the fucking most stupidist thing ive ever seen. yes the put a warning before them but STILL FOR FUCKS SAKE. this didnt happen back in the days when the original staff were still there. goes to show
The extremely strict moderation of their forums is also irritating. But then again I could just be mad at them because I got banned from GameSpot. I had a whole bunch of joke accounts that they found out about.
Um, they put a warning at the top, so you have little reason to complain, at least legally. (They don't want people bitching about it.)
You know... it's actually kind of a common thing. Though most reviews will tell you to skip to the next page to avoid spoilers.
Anyway, I find that it's best to just avoid reviews when looking forward to an upcoming game. Especially video reviews, they always show more than I want to see. Gamespot's Good and Bad sections is good to check out if you want to avoid spoilers. That kind of brief explanation is usually what I'll read if it's a game I'm really anticipating where I don't want to have anything spoiled.
@Milkman:
no i didnt see anything, but ill be damned if im gonna watch it when i see the warning. and as to your claim of whining i have this to say. as abraham lincoln famously said when he assumed office: shut the fuck up.
" You read that Mass Effect 2 has guns in it, didn't you? "Dammit! Way to ruin it for all of us! No point in playing it now...
I know. They totally ruined the ending of the latest Harry Potter game for me...
mw2 related spoiler
edit: this post is based off the first spoiler thing i saw btw, i didnt watch the 7 minute video to the end...
" You read a review from gamespot, you have no one to blame but yourself good sir. "This, and you were explicitly warned that there were spoilers in the review; if you kept on reading beyond that point, as Robot Hamster put it, you have no one to blame but yourself.
i dont watch them, hence i got no one to blame any way. i just take issue with their idiotic policy of ruining games. and the reason i go there is i check most reviews and check for discrepancies because not eery review mentions everything
GT is pretty notorious for spoilers. I stopped watching their reviews a while ago, especially whem I am planning on playing the game myself. Right now, I am having a very hard time avoiding ME2 spoilers. The dudes jerking off to their pirated version are dumb enough to put spoilers in the thread titles.
Example (actual ME2 spoiler!):
That's exactly the kind of little things I wanted to experience myself.
Apparently Mass Effect takes place in space... dammit, all these spoilers.
Seriously though, who really gives a damn about Gamespot?
I think it show's their inexperience if they have to spoil part of the game in their review. You can write a review and give the reader a very good idea on whether the game is worth getting, without giving anything story related away. Like someone said before me, the people who will read a review are the people that are in some way interested in purchasing the game... so the last thing they wanna see is the story spoiled - especially with a plot-heavy game like Mass Effect 2.
