Why does everyone keep comparing here to Gamespot, I've never even been to gamespot. To my knowledge though the two sites are completely different. And to answer your question.... yes

It doesn't have to. Let Giant Bomb be Giant Bomb and GameSpot be GamSpot.

In traffic, probably, but Giant Bomb and Gamespot are two different beasts.  There's really no reason to compare the two.

Indeed.

I'd put it up with Joystiq and Kotaku, I feel Jeff wants to keep Giant Bomb fairly small (staff wise) and away from the ugly corporate aftertaste which ultimately lead to Gamespot's downfall.

Gamespot deserves credit for being a well established gaming website - and offering its users a free service. Giant Bomb is its own beast, and neither should be compared to one another - for they are in all actuality, two completely different websites which just so happen to revolve around the same subject: Video Games.

#24 Posted by RobKenno (96 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

Its already beaten Gamespot... Simple As!

#25 Posted by Babble (1269 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

Yeah, I think Giant Bomb should never become a "Buisness Operation" like Gamespot has.

#26 Posted by DarkLegend (1387 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

GS is losing, that's all I know.

#27 Posted by DuckofDoom (49 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

I agree with the Giant Bomb is not Gamespot people. I'm sure the guys at GB only ever wanted to make a site where people could get together and share there love and knowledge of video games.

#28 Posted by DJ_LaFleur (178 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

I don't know if GB will catch GS, and I do not care.  I like both sites alot.

in terms of things that require money, no, not for a while at least

see, gamespot has this.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter now. We're here, Giant Bomb is Giant Bomb and Gamespot is Gamespot.

There's no point drawing comparisons at this point, we just have to wish Gamespot the best and commence in making this site as good as it can possibly be. If we keep talking about Gamespot, then we just become another Gamespot and judging from what everyone's opinion of it is nowadays, we don't want that now do we?

Not if we get more mods in here pronto. There's some trash that needs taking out...

#32 Posted by Kowalski (259 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

Why all this constant talk about Gamespot, Gamespot,Gamespot?

This is Giant Bomb, sure the founders are ex-Gamespot employees, but this site is a completely different Beast. In every way imaginable!
Gamespot used to be the shit, now Giant Bomb is the shit!! Why live in the past?

I used Gamespot because of their great video coverage, best reviews (except for Nintendo stuff, IGN are untouchable in that area), database, Senior editors and their work and personalities, and the podcast. NOW, all of these things have moved over to this site, and improved. This is now. This is the Bomb!

#33 Posted by MrMiyagi (925 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

Perhaps...

#34 Posted by unclejohnny79 (685 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

dunno there sorta different

#35 Posted by AV_Gamer (432 posts) - 4 years, 9 months ago

The ex guys from GS moved on an created a site that is different, as it enables full user ability. I believe this site will surpass GS in not much time at all. GS has lost a lot of creditability over the last couple of years.
