It really does let people live in their own other little world. I've got a (sort of) acquaintance who likes people to refer to her as a "troll" instead of a person. She loves the Jamaican accent.

I personally only ever played it once myself, and really don't like it. It took a lot of prodding to get me to bother making a character. Undead Rogue, I think it was.

I tried the free trial (after years of FFXI) and found it way too simple to be rewarding.

If I was gonna play an MMO, I'd only play FFXI because it's so damn hard but so damn rewarding.

However, I'd rather have a life so no MMO's for me ever again.

The game really is hit or miss, even if a ton of people love it. I really haven't run across people that just play it casually because they kinda like it. Even the casual players tend to love it and just have to pace themselves.

Firstly you gotta understand that when it first came out it didn't have every modern MMO on the planet sharing the same features as it so it was an original experience and one that was very well done at that. MMOs by nature are addictive with their reward system, player-constructed communities and endless gameplay and so you put together an innovative and brilliant game with lots of content and make it an MMO and you've not only got the recepie for a great game but also an addictive one.

I believe the game is so successful because it has the best community; makes you feel like WoW is a true 'world'.

And I mean community by numbers, not by manners.

It kicks ass and consumes you like a virus but it seems that some of us are immunized. I however still suffer from withdrawal.

Its all about getting together with a group of riends and playing dungeons and raids. Its a make your own fun game, and you can't really judge it with a trial.

WoW has a lot of things going for it.  You play in a masive world with tons of other ppl.  If you play this game by yourself you will get bored. There are stories in World of Warcraft and some of them are really good.  (Humans are really the bad guys.)

If you don't like ppl you won't like this game and that covers a lot of ppl.  lol

I found it too repetitive to enjoy it. It would probably be more fun at a higher level though.

I was more of an RP'ing type of guy so I like Lord of the Rings: Online more than WoW.
But wow is just a game like any other game, only difference is you pay 10 bucks a month.
Some people like it, others don't.

WoW is one of those games where a trial doesn't do it justice. I used to play it quite a bit in high school, actually it was about all I did my senior year. Exploring new content with strangers you've become friends with, taking down new bosses, getting new gear, it's really one of the most fun things I can remember. I've been off it for a year now, but I'm looking foreward to getting back into it once Cataclysim comes out.

Some of my (actual) friends have been wanting to start playing, after seeing my brother complete some of the end-game boss encounters, and the level of strategy and organisation they require. We're all going to start over, it's going to be a blast.

Really, its less of a community and more like a pack of raving fucking wolverines. Especially the forums.

It takes some time and friends for it to sink its teeth into you. I hated it until I actually had people to talk about it and play it with me.

Plus, we've had enough "Why do people like WoW?", or "I don't like WoW" forum topics.
