Unbound Saga for XBLA. It was on sale for 200 MP, which is only $2.50, so I don't feel too bad, but fuck, that game literally makes me angry as I play it. No other game has ever made me feel like I do when I play it.
Worst game you have bought knowing it was bad.
It's one of these:
- Action 52 (Mega Drive)
- Ultraman (SNES)
- Kaan (PS2)
- Vampire Rain (360)
- Onechanbara (360)
I have a weird desire to deliberately purchase and play games of dubious quality, as detailed here.

im really surprised this took this long.
I remember thinking Naughty Bear was like Manhunt, but with teddy bears. I liked Manhunt. Naughty Bear, not so much.
Alpha Protocol.
I wasn't enjoying myself and then when I saw the ending, I got pissed.
I thought I would enjoy it just from the Mass Effecty stuff but when I got it apparently the reviewers weren't lying about it feeling like it isn't finished.
There have been games I've bought knowing people have said their bad but turned out super good. (Dark Sector you are criminally under rated!)
But bad games turned out bad... Alpha Protocol. Could have been this AMAZING game just... things didn't click at all..

I bought Alpha Protocol knowing the game was no good from reviews and word of mouth, though it sounded like something I'd be interested in. It was, and I'm glad I bought it.
I really enjoyed it. I still think it does some things with player choice that even fantastic games like Mass Effect could take a hint from. A frustrating game, and certainly not objectively "good" but there is some great stuff in there.
This is easy. I do it all the time. I actually quite enjoy playing bad games- if its bad for reasons other then crashes/doesn't start errors- It can be quite an interesting experience.
Off the top of my head:
I knew Duke Nukem Forever would be bad. I still don't care and still happy I own a game that should not exist.
Deadly Premonition is great in it's own way, but denying the game is flawed (ok im being nice, it's bad) is to deny what makes a game good. Did I love DP? HELL YA! I wont pretend its not a bad game, though. It totally is. In my opinion its a bad game in the best possible ways. I am not sad I bought it.
Dante's Inferno. I knew it would be a clone of God of War. I think it's an ok one but that damn arena part is a real shame. I had a feeling it'd be meh, and it is but its another one I am not sorry I bought even though I knew it would be a bad game.
All the ones you listed, sadly. This year it has to be Operation Flashpoint: Red River. We even - ironically - imported it from the UK early.

Went out and bought deadly premonition a couple weeks ago. I know it has an interesting story or whatever but fuck. Horrible controls, god awful graphics and unresponsive quick time events were enough for me to realize the prologue was enough for me. Can't complain too much since it was 10 bucks but I wouldn't pay anymore than that.
Lair is the closest to that, but as I understood it wasn't that bad with the joystick enabling patch it got - but nope - it was boring as all hell.
I willingly bought Overlord and Clive Barker's Jericho because they were subject to a Steam sale.
The Alone in the dark remake and Duke Nukem Forever are the ones that come to mind, I played them hoping for some semblance of a good game but I couldn't find anything that was remotely interesting in either of those games.
I have been told Vampire Rain is "terrible" but that amazing online experience kept me cumming back and shooting loads, every time
It's hard to beat Dragon Power for this category. Poor gameplay and a ludicrous localization combine for a truly unique experience.
Nope. I used to buy games without much research, so I did play some "bad" games, but never on purpose. The games I buy now are those I know I will enjoy, and I don't give a damn if it's considered "Bad" by others, such as Mercenaries 2. As glitch-filled as Mercs 2 was, it's one of my favorite games of all time and I still play it once in a while. And a lot of people were down on Mirror's Edge, but I really enjoyed it.

Deadly Premonition is more of a "your mileage may vary" game than a bad game.

You've already gone ALL the way down bro, ALL THE WAY DOWN.

I like TV Tropes as much as the next guy, but c'mon. From a technical level, Deadly Premonition is objectively terrible. Everything about it is super janky. You can admire the ambition, but even if you love the story and music with 100% of your heart, it's still a pretty bad game. Enjoyable, but still bad.
I think something like Killer7 is much more YMMV, in that its gameplay is simple enough that it isn't completely busted, but whether the insanely ambiguous plot and abstract art style are for you is another matter. I happened to love it, and it's the best bargain bin ($10) I-heard-this-game-is-maybe-kinda-bad game I've ever been surprised by.
Deadly Premonition. I admit I bought it because of the Endurance Run; though, even with the encouragement of those hilarious videos, I probably wouldn't have--only I had friend who was willing to sit with me through the whole thing. Not to mention it was $20. Ended up being one of the funnest gaming experiences I've had.
Sonic Unleashed. I was led to believe the stages where you actually play as a hedgehog were good. They weren't, and there were like three werehog stages in between every speed stage, so if they had been good, the game still would have been shit.
I've knowingly bought some clankers in my time. Most recently, feeling the need to gain some perspective, I bought both ShellShock 2 and Rogue Warrior.
So bad... yet I still managed to get something out of them.

Ninety Nine Nights II. That game was...unpleasant.
But...But...one MILLION troops. Was the hack 'n' slash not extreeeeme enough?
It was a little too "extreeeeme", to be honest. So much so that my (previously thought) extreme tolerance for atrocious game design was utterly overwhelmed.
Hm, a game I bought even though I knew it was bad. Does this mean maybe a good game I thought was bad but I bought anyway? If that is the case, then pretty much any JRPG out there outside of Devil Survivor and Chrono Trigger. If it doesn't include those, then probably any game on the Wii that isn't first party.
Oh and UFC Trainer on the Kinect, there isn't a room in the world big enough to do ANYTHING in that fucking game.
Ninety Nine Nights. That game is real, real bad but I bought it even though I knew it was crap. Guess I thought it would be a decent Dynasty Warriors rip off...not so :(
