Im wondering what you guys have had for your worst losing streak in any multiplayer game.

For me its League of Legends. I started playing wtih a friend again instead of Dota 2.

Well ive lost 12 in a row. And most of them arent really all my fault.

In fact we were winning the last game.

I was supporting our YI and he was fed as hell.

Then at minute 30 or so, he leaves the game and never comes back.

Loss number 11.

What about you guys?

Can be any game. Ive had some losing streaks in Starcraft 2 but never 12 in a row.

Trials HD. It was one of the Extreme levels and I hit the cap on retries, which is 500.

Probably only 3-5 in any competitive multiplayer game, be it SC2 or SSFIV or LoL. I really, really, really hate losing so I usually stop playing before I can build up a significant number of losses.

Starcraft II man, Starcraft II.

I'll bump up to gold after a hot streak, and lose five or six in a row.

My friends and I fucked around on SC2 3v3s, trying dumb strats. Probably 10 losses in a row.

If we're counting single players stuff, it took me a couple of hours to get the Mile High achievement in CoD4.

Sometimes I'll come home from the bar and lose like 20 games of Ultimate Marvel in a row. I get so salty.

My friend and I played NHL 09 last night to celebrate the return of hockey. He stomped me like four games in a row.

Actually i not only have 1 horrible losing streak, i have 3 all in the same situation, all in Starcraft 2.

At the end of 3 consecutive seasons ( all ended when i was on holiday and had no other games so i could play very much starcraft ) I got some huge 50+ losses or so streaks ( obviously not 50 in a row, but something like 35 l and 15 w with maybe 10-15 consecutive losses ).

To make it worse they all happened in basically the same way, with me wanting to get into top 10-20 master of europe so than i need not worry about getting grandmaster next season , the fun thing is in all 3 seasons i was already about top 100-50 of master europe so i would have likely gotten in grandmaster anyway.

I guess it makes for a silly profile history because i have seasons when I literally played over 2000 games and ended on a lower note than the seasons i played 100 games in, but god damn it the fucking frustration when i realized it basically happened 3 times over in almost the same way :(

I dunno man , I try not to count and going to 8-12 ish in Warcraft III.

When I lose 4-ish games in a row, I'll usually go take a break. I've discovered that continuing playing when I'm frustrated and probably tired is not a recipe for winning.

Something like 10ish lost games in World of Tanks at which point i just quite the game and didnt play for a few weeks cuz i was fed up with it :)

starcraft 2 is definitely the most frustrating game ive played in multiplayer. ive had like 8 game loss streaks that have made me feel like shit for some reason. its weird. now i dont play starcraft 2 anymore 1 vs 1. i only play with a friend 2 vs 2. when the losses dont feel as bad.

#16 Posted by CookieMonster (2362 posts) - 3 months, 29 days ago

Well this isn't a multiplayer game, this is real life, but I want to talk about it anyway.

Just watched my football team Newcastle United lose their 15th game in 17 games to one of the worst sides in the league at home, and fuck is it depressing.

#17 Posted by BillyTheKid (432 posts) - 3 months, 29 days ago

TF2, sometimes I get on that team with all snipers and it doesn't auto balance and I loose. But luckily I am the top of my team even if I did shit.

#18 Posted by Nux (1990 posts) - 3 months, 29 days ago

@tunaburn: I'm right there with you. I once lost 10 matches in a row in League. Needless to say I took a few months off after that. All 10 losses were a result of poor team work or just an unwillingness to work together but it still felt horrible to lose that meany in a row.

Same for me. When I was really into that game I'd go on bad streaks, my worst was 9 games I think. Super frustrating.

Hmmm... I'd probably say it's between Mortal Kombat and Pokemon B/W Online. Although I win a lot on MK too (this was all offline multiplayer, friends and all).

Hmmm.... Guess it's Pokemon B/W online, man some people are just insane at that game. Also I have a few EV trained teams and they're pretty decent; I know what I'm doing. Most people, however, playing online just... I don't know, it's crazy. I do occasionally win, but lose far more. Even had a winning streak of like 3 once. Haven't played in ages, and haven't finished B/W 2. Will probably play online when I get the new 3D one in october and have completed it, in order to breed and EV train the right team. Man it's effort but I like the process.

For single player, probably Trials HD. In the last levels, I reached the cap, and then tried again before abandoning at a few hundred tries.

I wouldn't know for multiplayer, probably one of the CODs.

I built up a long losing streak in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. I barely got the trophy for ten wins and it took me nearly fifty matches to get it.

I lost 14 games in a row in World of Tanks a while ago, and it really soured me on the whole thing for a while.

Luckily, I've improved considerably since then and been a great deal more lucky. My WR is over 50% now.

You at least knew when to quit. I tried to improve and never really saw any results. The MVC style of fighting game is just too hectic for me.

Dota 2. 8 losses in a row right now. After I leveled up, everything went to shit. And its probably my fault.

#38 Posted by GetEveryone (4448 posts) - 3 months, 28 days ago

There have been points where I've played a few games of SSFIV and lost, then become psyched out and totally unable to win.

Rather than stopping, I'd continue and become completely enraged. Hence why my modded fightstick is broken and I no longer play.

I made it to 499 faults before hitting the thirty-minute time limit within sight of the finish line on the second-to-last Extreme track in Trials HD. I think I have three Extreme tracks left unfinished, and they'll probably stay that way.

I think I've got you guys beat on the multiplayer front. In Warhawk my clan used to train daily and we'd always start with two death match rounds to warm up and wait for the room to fill. It'd usually cycle through the maps and make it through again before the server would empty out. I lost 103 DM games in a row over the course of 2 months, consistently placing between 2nd and 5th in a 16 player server. The main issue is how much of an advantage our host had in terms of explosive damage and how ping affects it. The host probably won 70% of those rounds. We also recruited some top pilots so the Dog Fight Death Match rounds were very difficult even though the host wasn't a top pilot. I eventually broke the streak in a Dog Fight where our pilots showed up late. Before I started DMing with this squad I had almost a 50% win ratio and afterwards I was down to below 20%.

Hm. Hmmmm.

I guess I hit my worst losing streak in the Dominion deckbuilding game a couple years back. One of my friends just got absolutelye xceptional at that game. He actually got so good that most of us have just stopped playing it, with or without him. Which is too bad, because that game's incredible.

In a video game, I never really hit a consisten losing streak. I mean, I haven't won a multiplayer strategy game since Civilization Revolution, and I hadn't won one before that since The Frozen Throne was relatively fresh, but I don't consider that a streak because I don't play those games. My worst was probably a losing funk where I lost something around 80 or 90% of my games of Melee against my younger brother back in the day, but I'd still win one in every five or six games, so those don't count the same way.

I don't really play competitive games online. The ones I play, I win occasionally.

Trying to escort that fucking translator in God of War 2 on Titan Mode took what felt like an eternity. In truth it was like 2-3 hours, but for a game that on average takes about 8 hours to complete on the default difficulty, you can imagine how long it felt being stuck on the same section.

#47 Posted by Skytylz (3772 posts) - 3 months, 28 days ago

Right when I got SC2, I went straight to multiplayer with zero prior starcraft experience. I played like two of the practice league matches, but they were too slow and I skipped them. I then played my placement matches and somehow won two of them and ended up in silver. I then lost over ten games in a row and eventually ended up back in bronze.

#48 Posted by Christoffer (1248 posts) - 3 months, 28 days ago

I tried to get into playing Soul Calibur 4 online a couple of years ago. I don't think I won a single match. The game had already been out for a while and the few people I could get a good connection to were helluv good. I don't think I was that bad with singleplayer.

#49 Posted by MordeaniisChaos (5709 posts) - 3 months, 28 days ago

Battlefield 3. I don't think I've ever been on the winning team. And I used to be pretty decent at the game, and occasionally play with a full squad of friends with voice. Although, to be fair, I'm not sure why we play as a team, any time anyone tries to organize the damn squad (usually me) one of them charges off and gets shot by the gorramn sniper I've been calling locations on for the last 5 minutes.

Also, if it counts, the fight to try and get my friends to actually buy a new goddamn coop/multiplayer game. Right now, it's ArmA 2 and Iron Brigade, but they are being stubborn and I'm getting no where with them. It's been a long time in the works, and still no progress.

I hear you, brother, although I only invested in a fightpad. I played SFIV for a while online and became fairly decent with my main man Zangief. It slipped out of my playing rotation, but then a year or two down the line I saw SSFIVAE on Steam Sale and scooped it up. I hopped back in online and did well enough to satisfy myself that my skills hadn't all gone. But after a while a new pattern started to emerge. Each night's play would pretty much follow the same pattern: I'd start off respectably, but after a loss would just enter a spiral and lose until I got fed up with playing. Then that pattern itself gradually got worse; instead of starting respectably, I'd start off playing shit due to increasing nervousness. Instead of eg. losing by a time-out during my Ultra, against a decent player, I'd lose to obvious scrubs who were playing the game for the first time. Eventually I just flat out could not win and became too depressed with the experience to play at all. I too no longer play.
