Would you pay £300 for a statue?

Ok so recently with the slim pickings of releases at this time in the year ive been searching for some collectables from my favourite franchises. This is when I discovered the L4D Tank and TF2 heavy statue both INSANELY PRICED! for $300 a pop.

plus because I live in the UK im imagining postage for me is gonna be another $25-50 plus income tax which will probably be another $40-50

That being said is there anyone else thats thinking of picking one of these up or am I just losing my marbles with the lack of new games to keep me occupied?

I don't know how much money you have and I don't know how much you like statues, but it's certainly not something I'd buy. That being said, if you do buy them, enjoy your statues.

No. I don't think I've ever had a game resonate with me enough to want to buy a game related item.

I would love that Heavy statue, but tbh, $300 is waaaay overprices for that thing. Maybe I just don't know enought about the fabrication but it just seems unreasonable. If that thing was $100 I would be all over it.

If the heavy/tank statue was lifesized, maybe. I don't know where i'd put it or what I would say to explain it to people, but I'd pay for it.

How big are they are they like a couple feet or are they small.

I would, i mean if it looks appropriate for a room, then sure. Some of these things increase in value.

Well i dont normally have that much money lying around but i recently got a nice tax rebate and was just about to sink £700 on a SLR camera but then I saw this today and these things are limited.....well until they make more hahaha

That's not at all worth it for a 15 inch statue in my opinion.  It would have to be like 2.5 feet at the very least and EXTREMELY detailed to be worth that.

Buy the camera as it's actually something that has a function. The statues will just collect dust.

If you have put  lot of time into TF2 and are a big fan I say go for it, they're only going to be 300 of them (exclusive edition) in existence, cast in metal and hand painted. I hope to have enough money before the Solder goes on sale later this year. 

Fuck no... but I would pay $300 for a high quality Liara, Tali or Garrus statue. But it has to be damn good quality for that insane price.

I didn't even pay that much for one of the taller-than-me Space Marines they had at the GAME store that shut down here a few years ago but I probably would have paid 300 bucks for that thing if it was that much.

I always wanted a Shivan Dragon and Serra Angel statue from MTG ever since I saw them at a Wizards of the Coast store in like 1999. However they are no longer sold and hard to find. Possibly when I get an office space, i'll get them then as they are nice decoration pieces. I don't see an issue with that. If it's something you love its a nice conversation piece.

I'd spend $300 or more on a statue.  
 
Not on either of those statues, but I could see a circumstance where I would.

@Subject2Change: Imagine if they did a set of statues for the current rotation of planeswalkers? That'd be way sicker than Serra Angel and Shivan Dragon.

I probably wouldn't buy them though, as I don't tend to have statues, or the extra money to buy them (it usually gets sucked into M:TG somewhere) and anything more than 25 bucks for a statue seems too much.

I would pay twice that if I really liked it and thought it would improve my home. Art and memorabilia is the stuff that makes an empty room into a comfortable living space.

I have a couple of statues that are $100 to $200 each.  I didn't buy them myself; they were birthday gifts.  I think if I knew someone who was really into a certain property and the statue was in my gift budget, I'd be open to paying $300 for the gift item.  People will often pay a bit more for a gift to give to someone they care about even when they won't pay the same price for something for themselves.

Game swag should be free. You're overpaying enough for the title alone.

I've been tempted, but can't really justify blowing so much money to buy something that's just going to sit there and look pretty.

Damn dude just been looking at the website and its imense. If I had unlimited amounts of money id be their best customer XD. After everyones comments Im leaning more towards getting the Tank statue. As much money as it is money comes and goes your whole life. At least this would be a reminder of all the crazy times ive had playing L4D 1 and 2.

Plus thinking about it HAD to spend £200 for a crown on my tooth 3 months ago and what do I have to show for that!? a fuckin tooth. I cant exactly put my tooth on display in the house :P

It'd have to be really amazing. 300 is enough to buy a console these days.

Well the $300 is the part i can deal with its just the added postage and income tax thats been making this a real hard choice cause most likely it will bump up the price to at least $350 -400 easily

I never used to be much of a collector until the last 3 years really when some serious titles were coming out. After getting a few collectors editions they edged me into getting some figures to match them like the pandora's box from god of war getting me to get the kratos figure to go with it. Also the Hellghast edition came with a giant head and sniper figure which I love.

I dunno man ever since the PS3 and Xbox converted me from PC gaming my priorites have been running amok!
