I am so happy that the PS4 is coming because not only will it be a HUGE leap over the ps3 but it will finally push PC graphics that have been held back so long by only having old engines with some pretty effects etc added etc.. so excited.

Yup. Really hoping the next-gen games can fully utilize the pc rig I built a couple months back. Really hopeful the x86 architecture makes PC ports shine.

Anticipating seeing the specs of this nextbox already and see how the two compare.

Yeah. That's the idea. The thing that killed the PS3 was the use proprietary hardware and architecture. If they can bring that over x86, all of those development problems they've been having will be a thing a of the past.

The games do, indeed, look pretty nice.

These certainly look amazing. Be careful though, publishers are releasing those screenshots, they want to get you on board for the next gen. A lot of screenshots are not representative of how the game really looks like. I mean, according to Telltale, the Walking Dead looks like this. I absolutely loved The Walking Dead (you know, GOTY 2012 and stuff), but the game did NOT look like that... at all !

It seems like there may be a few seconds of realtime in-engine footage at the beginning of the Second Son video, marred by some ugly aliasing.

But those pre-renders and bullshots look quite nice.

Hold on. That Game Informer article says it's released on May 10. Did it get leaked out or something? I know they're having their cover announcement soon.

Having more than 512 megs of ram helps too, especially for higher res textures and more polygons.

As a big fan of inFamous, looking forward to the new one.

Yup, the ball and chain has been tying down PC for a while so it's nice to see the chain finally be extended again.

I'm suspicious of Second Son's screenshots. Having the main character and a few of the more important side characters look better via higher polygon count, higher textures, etc. than the rest of the NPCs in the game world is a common method in making the game's graphics look better overall. inFamous 2 took this tactic to its extremes though. Cole's character model looks pretty damn good even by today's standards. Some of the NPCs you meet in the game though (and I'm talking about recurring characters with somewhat important roles - not pedestrians) look like they came from a PS2 game.

None of those really wow'd me, we'll probably see some really great looking games are year or so into the new gen. Right now they just look like really high end current gen games which is to be expected.

The cool thing? My PC is already more powerful than a PS4. So I'll be getting at least this good of an experience.

It's also worth pointing out that these screenshots are much smaller than the games will be running natively. Being so small, they benefit in some ways, though obviously some detail will be lost.

I can't wait to see how games look like a few years from now.

They're nice, but not anything spectacular, and like the crew always say screenshots are misleading, when we see actual, unscripted/controlled gameplay footage then we can be impressed. the best effects and visuals in the world are worthless at 20fps
