As for the rest of this, with the social media and such, I actually kind of appreciate that they seem to just have regular folks running these social media hubs. There seem to be some real gamers in there that aren't afraid to like or mention non-Xbox things. Their main point is in getting more fans, followers, likes, and shares, and that's then used to promote Xbox properties when they want to do so. If acknowledging that other games exist gets them more likes and coverage, then they're likely doing something right. :)
