Xbox One not unlocking Xbox 360 achievements

I bought an Xbox One over the weekend. I have a new account now as opposed to my one from years ago. I bought an Xbox Live Arcade game on my Xbox One that was backwards compatible, Geometry Wars, but when playing the game and unlocking achievements they aren't unlocking. It's giving me a prompt that says something to the effect of reload an 360 account if I remember right but I don't have a 360 anymore and probably won't buy one by this point. Anyone have this issue and if so, how is there a way to fix it? I saw a few videos on YouTube but none seemed to have any concrete fix.
