After seeing the Yakuza 4 trailer I'm super excited the game looks awesome, but I've never played a Yakuza game before should I pick up both 1 and 2 for PS2. Also were's 3 at?
Aren't the Yakuza games pretty rare now, or am I mistaken? I would pick them up just on the love it gets, but I don't think I've ever seen them in a store, even used.

Skip Yakuza 1 and just go for 2. At the beginning of 2 there is an option to show you the entire plot of the first game.
@SmashedControllers: I suppose I was. I'll have to see if my local store has any, granted last time I went, I wasn't specifically looking for that game. I was looking for SotC. Now that game, for me was tough to find.
I bought Yakuza 2 but only played it for a couple hours. I've been meaning to get back to it, but it was falsely described to me as a Shenmue replacement so I guess I was turned away by my disappointment in that regard. There is some joy to be had from the simple combat and yakuza storyline. It did recap the first game for me pretty well, so I didn't feel lost. I also don't mind the subtitles, but good voice actor translations would probably give it wider appeal.
