Yakuza 3 will have an english dub after all, yay!
I thought it was much more amusing playing the demo without any english language or subtitles.... this man in sunglasses and a trenchcoat picked a fight in an alleyway whilst a man in a suit threw bicycles at me.
that game is weird!
" Boo, Sega's just losing money this way. Unless they get Hammil back as Majima "
They better bring Mark Hamill back.
subtiles for the win
Seems more than one site got their news wrong because of 1up. got my update here http://www.destructoid.com/like-it-or-not-yakuza-3-gets-voiceovers-update--159483.phtml
" @popmasterruler: UPDATE: It turns out that the 1UP podcast was misleading. It looks like Sega has confirmed that there will be no voice work. Subtitles only. haw-haw

Goddamn it!
I hope the option to use the Japanese voice-overs is still in there. I found Yakuza 2 much more immersive because of the Japanese. It's also worth reminding people that the "celebrity" cast who did the English voices for the first game did an abysmal job. And, yes, they better bring Mark Hamill back.
Just re-release the entire series with subs already.
I predict the series has a lot of interest due to word of mouth compared to when they released the first Yakuza over here. (Nothing from Sega's marketing team, that's for sure.)
Yakuza 2 is hard to track down, many people have no idea that it was actually released over here.
For those people who have been keeping up with the series thus far, they have one game that is dubbed and now two games that are subbed. Talk about a goddamn lack of consistency. What of the newcomers to this series? Will they be able to embrace and enjoy Yakuza 3 without the context of 1 and 2? What's the harm of sticking both on PSN?
C'mon Sega, let's milk a franchise like your supposed too.
I really don't understand why they would do this. English voice-overs not only corrupt the original game experience and setting, but they are unimportant and slightly annoying to the people who will actually be picking up Yakuza 3.
False, it won't be dubbed in english.

I played the original with the dubbing. I loved the f bomb overused, gave a kind of self important game a certain dose of campness that fit the ridiculous combat.
If weabos are so interested, well honestly, I would think that group already imported the game. So yeah, if its coming here, why not dubs?

"You don't have to be a weeaboo to want something in its original language. Even if you don't understand it, it adds to the authenticity, be it Japanese, German, Italian etc.
And the 'campness' was probably not what Sega intended.... which is exactly why it needs an original voice track.
Good thing that it's not true. I'm no weeaboo- but I think with this series it's better to have the original voice actors.
Also Sega needs to spend their cash on advertising the game- not with VAs.
I've been watching so much subtitles anime these days that voice-overs actually sound funny to me. Subtitles only in Yakuza 3 is fine by me. Besides, there are certain vocal characteristics applied by Japanese actors that really don't carry over to English without sounding forced or silly.
