Hey all. Just a small update from the Top Men. You can now gift yearly Whiskey Media premium memberships to your family and friends. Simply go to http://auth.whiskeymedia.com/gift/ and fill out the form. Once completed, you'll receive a code and instructions that you can pass to your buddy so they can redeem their membership. Note that gift codes are only available in the Yearly subscription format, but do come with $15 store coupon as well. For those members who already have subscriptions, redeeming a code will extend your next billing date out an extra year, so it's a great gift for everybody.

This is a cool idea ripped off from Steam, but if GiantBomb becomes more like Steam they are on the right track.
Very true. I never gifted anything before Steam implemented it into their service.
So... anyone want to give me a years premium membership? I probably won't pay you back whatsoever so, you know, you have to do it!

The ability to gift stuff has been around since before Steam y'know?
For gamers? Digitally? Do tell...
I didn't know that they were gifting games.

When you narrow it down to specifically gamers and digital, well played my memory doesn't serve well enough on how long you've been able to gift steam games for. Regardless, there was definately in game gifting for gamers beforehand, and without narrowing it down so specifically gifting is actually a worldwide thing that people have been doing for a while now.
lol, I'm sure you'll keep yourself entertained in this thread all evening.@emergency said:

Excellent stuff. Would like a monthly option though, for larger-scale mass, random donations. Can probably convert some more Whiskey lifers this way!
[EDIT - Ah you replied to me on Twitter. Thanks!]
Gabe Newell actually invented Christmas, did you know that? I think he's Santa, but keep it on the DL ;)@Buzzkill said:

You've been able gift subscriptions on IGN since ages ago actually (not sure if they've since gotten rid of it; it used to be a nice sign of respect/appreciation on their forums). Glad to see Giantbomb gaining this feature too.

You've also been able to gift games on Steam for years. The gifting of hats and other bullshit is recent.

The ignorance of some of these posters is amazing. No wonder this site attracts mostly a console crowd.

You call other posters ignorant, yet you yourself talk down about the users as 'mostly a console crowd'. Get the fuck outta here, what makes you so special?
Sounds like a very generous and nice idea, not gonna sit there and panter and beg like most people will for a gifted membership if someone gives me one then ill be thankful for it. and a plus is the people who do gift someone with that get a coupon so kind of a win-win situation?
So... like DeviantArt?
Maybe for Christmas this year, somebody could buy WM some honest business ideas.
I just sent my first membership gift to Chrismafuchris, who won it in a topic I made a month ago. It will not be my last gifted membership!

He plays the same games I do, but on a machine that costs 3 times as much. That's how you know he's a real smart guy.
