Secret of Mana and the fourth player keeps getting us beer from the fridge.
We still break out the SNES to play through that every time my military buddies get time off to come back.
Either X-Men Legends II, or Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Both great, great co-op games. Especially with 4 players.
Easily Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II. I remember playing that game with a few friends religiously from Christmas 2002, all the way through the summer of 2003.
There's a lot of great one's out there, but it's easily Diablo II for me.
The Rock Band. Maybe you have heard of it.
You know what, I'll say playing Bad Company 2 in a squad with three buddies. Still co-op since you aren't killing the three other players, rather coordinating with them.
I've had the most fun with castle crashers, x-men legends 1 and 2 and LOZ: four swords. Though fun may be pushing it with that last one it nearly broke our friendships with each other. If you forget the co-op and just want four player gaming then nothing beats smash bros melee!
4 player Super Bomberman multitap action.
Borderlands. While the game is fun in single player, it becomes ridiculosly fun with three other people. Granted I played it on a PC and didn't have the experience of playing in the same room as four other people.
Honorable mention: All those 4-player Arcade Beat'em Ups (The Avengers, X-Men, Simpsons etc.).
My friends and I freshman year of college all got together and played Tales of Vesperia all summer. We clocked in over 100 hours beating it on hard. It was an amazing summer.
the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle games are great for co-op and so was the Zelda: Four Swords.
Castle Crashers is a great download game and any of the Halo games are amazingly fun on co-op.
Probably Little Big Planet 2.

Left 4 Dead. "
" Easily Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II. I remember playing that game with a few friends religiously from Christmas 2002, all the way through the summer of 2003. "Oooooh that's a good one. I never got into PSO on Dreamcast but totally loved it on GameCube with 4 player co-op.
Favorite would easily be Rock Band. Runners-up: Borderlands, Castle Crashers, Halo... and I guess Left 4 Dead, even though I haven't played it in forever.
