steam
Your favorite place to Buy games. (Poll)
I use both Amazon and Steam but I mainly get my console games at Amazon and usually buy my more indie games on Steam.
online, I don't like waiting in line in gamestop and then having the guy grill me about why I don't want to preorder mw2
Ideally wherever I can find a game cheapest. If I'm actually going into a store, it's usually Gamestop these days, but only because there's one like a block away from my house. I used to always have my parents take me to Best Buy, but that rarely happens anymore.
Amazon for sure. Steam for PC games though, I prefer to just be able to download the game and play it the same day if possible. If I want to buy from a store (AKA buy new releases without waiting for shipping) I always go to GameStop, the employs are much more competent at my local GameStop than other GameStops I've been to
I have a friend that works at Gamestop like, 1 day a month. I get the hookup there, so I can't complain.
He has a better full time job than I do, but they keep him on as the occasional weekend backup guy.
I voted Steam but their is something unquestionably enjoyable about buying new games (without stickers on them,Damn Gamestop) at Target, picking up Nerf Guns along the way, and buying comics at Borders. Even if most of that is circumstances it definitely ranks highly on my shopping experience.
Steam. Cuts the companies costs by not needing to produce as many cases and discs and I'd assume they get more of a cut than from a store like Walmart. Of course Valve takes a small cut though.
I end up buying most of my games at the second hand game store. I got BFBC2 at a main stream game store, they had a great trade in deal for MW2. Doubly sweet as I bought it for £4 less than I sold it for.
My favorite place to buy games is Steam, but I get the majority of my new console games from Amazon. When it comes to new AAA games, Amazon usually gives you gift cards worth $10-$20 which is cheaper than most retail outlets. Sometimes Toys-R-Us will also give you a $10 gift card if you buy it the first week it's out. I like to save money when buying games, so I go where the price is cheapest. For used games, I frequent Gamestop or Gamefly.
Mostly Gamestop but that's due to the fact I work there and get a decent discount. I can't even imagine how much money that has saved me.
I'll hit up Amazon for older games I never see decent used copies of. Toys R' Us also has crazy deals where they'll give you like a $20 gift card when you buy a new game. I've been tempted more than once to give them a whirl on something new. I try to avoid Wal-Mart and like the plague. Mostly because I hate Wal-Mart.
Hate to say Best Buy, but it's the fastest and quickest way to get it for me. I'd love to support a local shop if it had a decent selection, I only know of a few local stores with so-so availability and less than stellar service.
No votes for Wal-Mart, surprising but understandable.
" Holy crap Best Buy is doing really well. I hate that place & sales tax. "
Then you aren't paying attention. They cut massive discounts on major titles with and without coupons. Go into the store and you'll find bargain price markdowns. Right now Assassin's Creed 2 is $30 vs $55 at Amazon.
And sales tax is irrelevant on something as cheap as video game. Especially when nearly every site charges for delivery that usually costs more.
I usually buy most games from Best Buy, but lately I've been pre ordering everything from Amazon because they give me discounts on future game purchases.
I guess I probably like Steam the best, though I don't buy from there too often. I chose BB, because well, I work there.
I agree with you that you might find a better deal there, I'll start looking myself.
But no shipping cost with amazon, if one is prudent..and it's close to my state tax, so i will go for 1 day many times.
And on some recent issues, Iv'e also seen amazon cut shipping cost to 0.00 for day one release.
I wouldn't say it's my 'favourite' place but usually go to EB. I'm familiar with most of the staff there and, unlike the staff at Futureshop or HMV, aren't too cool for school.
