Wondering what you favorite prequels games are.

I really like MGS3 and Crisis Core: FF7. Any other good ones?

Both of those are great. Devil May Cry is another great one.

MGS3 was really good, I really like Halo 3 ODST and Reach

Edit: The person below me reminded me about Deus Ex, so yeah that too.

  • Devil May Cry 3
  • Resident Evil 0
  • Fear Effect 2 (weird that its first, and only, sequel is a prequel)
  • MGS3 as you said yourself, which is perhaps the ultimate prequel of all times. It's pretty much still the best MGS game overall.
  • Dead Space: Extraction
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Never played the other two, but I really liked this game a lot and it's a prequel so.

They're what first spring to mind least.

The second PSP God of War game was really good. That's about the only prequel I can think of that I liked. Well, Resident Evil 0 was alright.

Vice City Stories was really good. Crisis Core FFVII was as well. And I think Ueda has said Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel.

  • RE0
  • MGS3
  • Godfather Pt. 2

Deus Ex:HR is the only thing that comes to mind...

Deus Ex human revolution and MGS 3 come to mind.

#12 Edited by mrfluke (5314 posts) -

lets throw shadow of the colossus in there as its considered a prequel to ico.

and i really liked halo reach as well.

Halo: Reach

MGS3 and Crisis Core are both amazing and my favourites as well. Also, Yoshi's Island (technically?). And would any of the Zelda's count, since they jump all over the place within the timeline? I'm kinda stretching it here. Suikoden IV is decent too.

Castlevania 3

MGS3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution are the only prequels I care about, I'm more for moving a story forward rather than going back trying to fill in gaps but those two are important enough for me to overlook that.

I enjoyed Halo: Reach and Deus Ex: Human Revolution quite a bit. I can't really think of any others right now.

MGS3, Peace Walker and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Metal Gear Solid 3

Also Metroid Prime takes place somewhere between the original game and Super Metroid, so it's sort of a psuedo prequel. I'll throw that in here too.

That ^ ...and of course the new Tomb Raider. I know it's a reboot, but it's also a prequel because it young Lara.

I won't be another original than anybody here but for me it's definitely Metal Gear Solid 3 and FF: Crysis Core! Those games were amazing! And although you know where to story is headed you still enjoy them and get emotional.

GoW Chains of Olympus, DMC3 and Resident Evil Zero are my first thoughts. Picking a single one would be really tough.

#23 Posted by Abendlaender (2866 posts) -

Does Knights of the Old Republic count as a Prequel? Cause I feaking love that game

God of War:Chains of Olympus.

#25 Posted by Dagbiker (6978 posts) -

Tomb Raider, probably still from the emotional high though, ask me in a year about that.

Metal Gear Solid 3.

I really like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Halo: Reach but never really played much Deus Ex and Halo outside those two so i can't really look at them from that perspective.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII was pretty good up to the point i played it but i never finished it. I'll get around to it some day.

LA Noire is a great prequel to GTA: San Andreas.

#28 Posted by Hector (3374 posts) -
  1. MGS3
  2. Halo: Reach
  3. Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (This counts right?)
#29 Posted by espm400 (106 posts) -

MGS3 is the only great one that comes to mind off the top of my head (as I check through my game library...), yup. The recent Tomb Raider wasn't bad, but certainly wasn't great. As for good ones, Deus Ex:HR and Halo:Reach weren't bad, although partially due to the game load I had at the time and partially due to the pacing of the game, I never did finish DE:HR, I'll have to do that sometime... Also @hector and @lelcar, Zelda games are disqualified from counting as prequels, since they're all the same game...

Halo Reach for sure, it's probably my favorite Halo game.

Yoshi's Island

The God of War prequel trilogy.

Snake Eater is pretty much the best prequel of all time. It doesn't exist solely to fill out some kind of self-important backstory like Reach or the Star Wars prequels, it actually sheds new light onto and enriches the main narrative in the present of the series.

Street Fighter Alpha. I like the artwork, the storylines, and I'm actually pretty good with Ryu in that game.

#37 Posted by gaminghooligan (1477 posts) -

Halo Reach, MGS3, and of course DMC3

MGS 3 and Peace Walker are both excellent. God of War Ghost of Sparta is also pretty awesome (haven't played Chains of Olympus). Deus Ex: Human Revolution...
